Discovery of an ancient Buddha statue.

Mr.Ratchanat Phupahin, The Mayor of Tung Fon District, Mr. Kritsadakorn Laypanya and Pramaha Sunya Tanwaro, the head of the monk of Pho Sri Tung Temple together with many villagers were at a rice field yesterday of Mrs.Baulia Jampathong discussing ways to bring a recently discovered ancient statue to the non-permanent museum at Tung Fon city, Tung Fon district.

Mrs.Jampathong discovered the ancient Buddha statue while she was working on her farm; it is made from bronze and is believed to be Prang Mawichai style. Moreover before she discovered the statue, many villagers also found various ancient articles on their land. The officer said they know of many ancient antiques discoveries around Ban Dong, Ban Phang, Ban Mead and Tung Fon sub-districts.

All of the ancient Buddha statues are kept at Waruwanaram Temple in a non-permanent museum, which was donated and built by Tung Fon district office, some companies and villagers. Now they are waiting for 10 million Baht from government to build the new museum.
