Udon Thani Prison follows Sufficiency Economics of His Majesty the King
Udon Thani’s Prison is following the sufficiency economic program of his Majesty the King by training all prisoners how to start new businesses. They have struck on a niche market of frog farming and have come up with a unique idea, the Condo-frog farm. They strongly hope that this will influence the prisoners to start their own business once they leave prison.
Mr. Likid Banjakan, the managing officer of Udon Thani prison said their career improvement organization invested in the Condo-frog farm, by following the sufficiency economic program of His Majesty the King.
The pollywogs or baby frogs are keep in plastic bottles and stored in racks, hence the name ‘condo-frog’.
The 10 day old pollywogs are placed in clean plastic bottles with many little holes for oxygen. Clean water is added and changed weekly. They are fed every 2 days then after about 3 months they are ready for cooking in Isaan food, or alternatively can be sold on the local markets, Mr. Banjakan said.
