Warning of heavy rain and flooding in 10 provinces of upper North East Thailand

The Meteorological Department is warning of heavy rain and flooding in 10 provinces of the upper North and Northeastern: Mea Hongson, Tak, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakorn Panom and Mukdahan. Continuing a season of tropical storms, floods and mudslides mountainous areas, Thailand's projected weather during August gives reason to be vigilant, a senior Interior Ministry official said Friday.
 
More tropical thunderstorms were expected to bring heavy rainfalls which could cover as much as 60 to 80 per cent of the country in the coming month. Disaster officials have been ordered to monitor water levels in rivers, as well as rainfall levels so that people living in at-risk areas can be evacuated before severe flooding and mudslides occur.
