10.000 tulips

I read this article in the Nation and want to know if this is really a visit worth.

thousands of Thai tourists went to admire some 10,000 tulips that bloomed at the Phu Foi Lom Forest Park as part of the tourism-promotion event named "Tulips bloom at Phu Foi Lom" yesterday, amid the cool 18-19 degrees Celsius weather.

We had a look around on Sunday afternoon. I didn't realise there was a tulip display until we arrived. The weather was very pleasant so an ideal time to walk around the park.

If you do go choose a weekday because weekends are very busy.

I didn't take any snaps except the one below that shows the tulip displays in the distance.

Went to Phu Foi Lom today. Tulips are indeed, quite beautiful. Some very nice lilies are also on display. Pics have not been downloaded yet, but perhaps in the next day or so I can pick out a couple to post.

We had a picnic, walked around the dinosaur statues and enjoyed the great weather. Well worth the 45 / 50 minute drive to the park. Even today there were lots of people there and quite a few tour buses in the parking lots. I'm sure it is busier on the weekends.

By the way, the waterfall is effectively dry now and really not worth to walk to see it.

Well a few snaps I took today. Unfortunately they are getting past their sell by date now. The display is supposed to go on until 31st but I don't think they will have many specimens left . They are all in pots and under netting but unfortunately they just don't like the heat .



Even a windmill.!
Anyone thinking of going should be aware there is a ban on selling alchohol in National Parks. So sorry no beer .

I think he referred to dinosaur statues. I can assure you Jack that is no artificial reproduction. It is a real, live version who has survived the rigours of posting on UM for over 6 years and hopefully will do so long after other species have died out.

Well apparently they are waiting for another 10,000 tulips to arrive from Holland later next month to repeat the successful event held at Phu Foi Lom last year . Will notify dates asap .

Now open .

The exhibition of tulips imported from Holland started on the 24th December and will go on until Jan 8th . Although last year they were starting to look a bit sorry towards the end , so suggest you go sooner than later .It was much colder up there in the mountains of Pheu Failom this year so they may last longer. A taster for you, please excuse the green tinge on some photos this was due to a green netting over them shading from the sun.

Okay I know there not all tulips but they contribute to the very attractive display

For anyone who has never been to this place a general view . It really is worth going. Its about 50kms from Udon and entry is free .
