3.75% Fixed Account

Postby Muni » July 26, 2011, 2:51 pm

I keep the money for my annual visa in a Fixed account at TMB bank. Today they stopped by to inform me of the new interest rate is 3.75% for 12 month Fixed account. They also offer a 90 days account (you are allowed 2 withdrawals per 90 days) at 2.25% . Interest for both accounts is paid after 7 days

For this amount I am considered a VIP customer. They will come to your house for whatever reason. They brought the letter for Immigration to me at my house the day of my renewal, moved some money between accounts, etc. No need to go to the bank unless you want. (Note: In June for my annual renewal, Udon Immigration was very happy with money in a Fixed account)

For more information, please contact:

As I mentioned, he will come to your home however his English is limited. If you cannot speak Thai, best to have someone who can assist you

Thanks for the info Muni. Being somewhat of a cynic, I would be very leery of any guy "from the bank" that wanted to come to my house to help me with transactions. Better go to the bank to see if your money is still there!

But since I am looking for a good interest deal, I will check it out. Cheers!

3.75% Fixed Account

It's for real. I've dealt with the bank quite a while. Actually you do have to go to the bank to deposit the money. The manager has been to the house as well & I had mentioned needing a letter for Immigration . Excellent service. I was very impressed when he delivered my Immigration letter before I called to ask about it.

3.75% Fixed Account

These folks get commission on a new account. So, I will not be surprised if they would come to your home to open a fat account. My question is that is this 3.75% from day 1, or the interest rate goes up in steps upto that 3.75%, say in 9 to 12 months.

Quick 12 Month3.75 % (Appears to be a flat 3.75%....not the step-up rate like some of the other banks. Interest is paid up front within 7 days, but be cautious of early withdrawals as noted below. The website is:

Yes he gets commission & has a monthly target. He & TMB have been very good to me which is why I offered to post this for him. In 20 years I've never had any other bank bring me my letter, a deposit slip. a new DEBIT card, etc.

I have a 12 month Fixed account & get the full interest in 7 days, not phased in. I'm not sure about the 90 day account. I could have taken the cash but decided to use it to buy a Life Insurance policy thru TMB bank. The Life Insurance policy was also quite attractive. A small free physical is required at AEK Udon: blood pressure, HIV. Off the top of my head I can't recall all the exact figures. It depends on age but for me, I agreed to DEPOSIT the yearly premium of about 25K Baht for 8 years. From 9th - 15th year, no need to deposit any more money. If you die the 1st year (..luckily I didn't), they pay 100K. After the 2nd year, it jumps to 250 or 300K plus all the money you deposited (please don't hold me to these exact figures but more or less that's the idea..sorry). If you're still going after 15 years, you get all your money back plus some interest. I can't recall exactly how much but with or without interest, I'll be happy just to get my money back on my 80th birthday!! This won't make you or your kids rich but either way, it will pay for a nice party!!!!

Muni, thanks for your initial post and subsequent information. This is a truly excellent opportunity and appears to have excellent benefits.

Thanks again! :D
