30-day extension of a 60-day tourist visa.

Postby ScorpioPower » November 21, 2008, 4:17 pm

Does anyone know a travel agent that can issue a friend of mine an air ticket to the UK [and then subsequently cancel it], so that he can show it at the office in Nong Khai and get a 30-day extension?

He's prepared to pay the agent a nominal fee, but not that much. Another 60-day tourist visa is only 1,000 from Vientiane.

Cheers!

Surely would be better/safer just to pay the 1000 baht.

I am not sure that would be actually worth the effort.
To "get" an air ticket from a travel agent it would be necessary to outlay the cost of a ticket that could, subsequently, have its date changed. Immigration want to see the actual air ticket - which means the agent would have to print one - which can only be done via a carriers site.
Why not just go across the bridge and get a 30 day visa exemption stamp - assuming that he hasn't already had 3 of those in the last 180 days??

I think you've hit the nail on the head Bob.

Looks like your 'friend' has to go to plan B.

One of the problems the Immigration guys do have, is accepting Electronic ticketing issues, u can print off your booking , but they still want an original paper ticket.
