4th. Ashes Test at Headingley

Postby BobHelm » August 7, 2009, 6:18 pm

Well Freddy out for England - Harmison in....England win toss & elect to bat - tuns out a poor decision.
16 overs all 3 Aussie front line bowlers have claimed a wicket.
England 39 for 3 only Cooke keeping them at bay with 23. Collingwood & Cooke in now. The the wickie (Prior) then they are down to the bowlers.... :( :(
Not a good day so far from an England side that really only had to draw to put considerable pressure on Australia...

I guess England doesn't like the pace nor 5 am fire alarms. Let's hope they make it to tea.

92-7 now....at least Prior is still there with 34*.
A score of 150+ is going to look monumental now.
Lets hope the British summer torrential rain kicks in the next few days !

all out for 102.

Its 4.5 days to go,and Aust have to bat now, looking at the dismissals, its looks like a bit of good bowling and bad batting, didnt seem the wicket played up at all/

The Plan would be for us to bat , bat and then continue to bat, looking at a big score for sure.

England will be roaring to get back in the game for sure, so nothing claimed yet.

will say its a 65/35 to the Ozzies for sure

BUT its a great game eh

Aus 52 - 1 so going well for them.
I watched the England batting display until it got too distressing for me (lunchtime day 1 so not too encouraging :( ). The bowlers bowled well, put it in the right place ball after ball but it was not zooming about & impossible to play, just more poor England batting. As I intimated in my earlier piece England's sole aim should have been not to lose this game. Freddy out, they replace with a bowler...WHY??? Bopara has batted badly, why not strengthen the batting ??? I despair (again) VERY bad decisions even before the game has kicked off. If Australia (or rather when) win this one England go into the last game Having to win, Australia on an up....If ever there was a game to play 5 Boycotts it was this one!!!!

Agreed Bob, the more runs u have on the board, the less time for Oz to win, simple !!!

U dont pick a team to draw a test, BUT u do pick a team to win it first !

Clark has always been the replacement for McGrath and line and length today proved that, as well as Siddle. make em play the ball ever over no matter what.

Watson and Punter, Both From Tassie and im happy for sure !

Long way to go but like the 1/62 so far

Having seen Punter bat as a 14 yo, I think he really is going to prove this test, how he will take on the bowlers and score well, Lots of pressure to win this test and leading from the front as the skipper.

Truely deserves the highest run scorer for Oz ever and doesnt look like slowing down till he beats the Little Master .

Does show that the wicket isnt doing much .

1 run in front now and 2 settled batmen, here's hoping for 450 plus for the first dig. [-o< [-o<

102 all out? What happened, were they out on the beer last night?

All those tightfisted Yorkshiremen will be asking for their money back.

England 102 Australia 196-4

Shocking batting display from England.Prior 37* and Cook 30 were the only players to make double figures.
THE OTHER NINE CONTRIBUTED JUST 18 RUNS BETWEEN THEM

Matt Prior reckons England can still win it.....dont see how.....Even a score of 600 plus in the second innnings is unlikely to be enough.
I bet there are many doing rain dances for Leeds in the next few days !

Well day 2 and im expecting an Ozzie win !

We certainly ralied with the bat and " strike me lucky " we have bowled well again

Got to be 90/10 % now and only a Paki bomb threat or local showers , will bring it to a draw !

Punter forget 1981 ! go for the jugular now.

For the yorkies who bought day 5 tickets, som num na for all the years i put up with Sir Geofery
