You seem to be confusing two separate issues, git.

As far as illegal immigrants in the US are concerned, I don't have any answers. If you want to ask me about Australia, I would be happy to enlighten you.

As far as the mad sheriff is concerned, please read the link I posted earlier. In contrast to your statement above:

You see the idea of rahabilation has failed miserably. so what do you do make it not as much enjoyable a yuo can. o the bad guys go elsewhere.

this is taken from the link:

In her book on prison policy The Use of Force by Detention Officers, Arizona State University criminal justice professor Marie L. Griffin reported on a 1998 study commissioned by Arpaio to examine recidivism rates based on conditions of confinement. Comparing recidivism rates under Arpaio to those under his predecessor, the study found "there was no significant difference in recidivism observed between those offenders released in 1989-1990 and those released in 1994-1995."

and another tidbit from the link:

Family members of inmates who have died or been injured in jail custody have filed lawsuits against the sheriff’s office. Maricopa County has paid more than $43 million in settlement claims during Arpaio's tenure.

Remember I said the main part of the job was keeoping them form killuing each other, you can add extortion, robbery and rape to that. That is the typical US jail. Me being confused nothing new about that

Wonder how many Jails the good professor worked in.

"there was no significant difference in recidivism observed between those offenders released in 1989-1990 and those released in 1994-1995." So the soical prgrams which cost huge sum of money were working better?

Sure tell me how Australia handles it, I was always like to learn.

In the end you are going to believe you want to and I will do the same it's all OK with me.

For those unfamiliar with US court systems, anyone can sue anyone. Filing a suit proves nothing in the US.

Frivolous suits are very common, and I'm sure that Maricopa County gets its share of suits filed by whiny inmates who were forced to wear pink duds. I would be curious to know how many of those suits were successful.

I could offer an opinion on that Stan, but I would prefer to maintain a good relationship with the Yanks of Udon (and Nong Khai of course :D ).

But I do note from the voting figures in the wiki link that his vote continues to fall at each election. However, given that he is now 75, hopefully he has stood for the last time, and will soon go to that great lunatic asylum in the sky (or, more likely, down there)

Some of those votes against the sheriff could very well be an influx of ACORN and/or illegal immigrants casting ballots. It happens with all of our loose voting restrictions.

Yuor right Jack I would like to know more about your home country. I habve always been facinated by it and never been there. SO if i start one will yuo please add some insight. I'm not being a wise guy I will start it.

Yes Law suits are common in Jail as a mattter of fact Califonia requires you to maintain a first class law Library for inmates. My honest opinnion we worry more about the criminal then the common citizen. Good in someways cause if his rights are protected so are yours. Me I like Joe, hope his department continues on to enforce all the laws.

Of to the new thread, my rant is finished =D>

You could be right there WBU. Having another look at the figures, his own vote has gone up significantly, whilst his share of the vote has fallen :-k
