Don't bring large amounts of US dollars to SCB either. Seven day hold on cold, hard cash! :yikes:

Just happy I didn't need it right away.

I must admit I was initially confused - thinking someone had jumped the queue at Immigration :D

But I read LA's post, and (as usual) all was revealed

Hi,agree that Kasikorn seems to be the best bank to use in Udon.I use the branch on the ground floor in Robinsons, they have at least 2 English speaking employees male one is excellent, and every time i go in i am acknowledged and seem to get priority treatment. They are very efficient ,ive done swift transfers from the UK no problem and changed money from £ to Baht and vice versa, and debit card issued within 5 minutes of applying. And if you have cash £,s in bank exchange rate is up to date and good.

Just a pointer; they use Baht in Thailand, not dollars. If you want to pretend you're still in the good ol' US of A, get a dollar account.

I can second (or third) the support for Kasikorn, particularly the one on ground floor at Robinsons. English speakers, helpful, fast, transfer money to and from Australia etc. Funnily enough though, another K branch I went to said they couldn't transfer despite me saying that the Roinsons branch had already done it for me several times. It seemed to me that they didn't really know what to do. Anyway, K in Robinsons is the way to go - hassle free.

Cash advances from debit card at US bank easily done at SCB. Consistent and never a problem

Went to Kasikorn Bank downtown branch today, and they didn't want to do it. Instead they referred me to the ATM to get cash and then come in to deposit it. I nodded, smiled and thanked them. Then went to SCB and had no problem.

Thanks for the Kasikorn tip at Robinson's, Phil! =D>

I'll try there next time.

Kasikorn Bank branch in the Complex flawlessly executed a cash advance for me today using my debit card from a US bank.

They didn't even flinch when I made the request.
