Let's see if that will be the case.

Now That was a good read....must admit it was an eye opener, even after being an experianced traveller in Thailand for 21 years....didn't realize it was that bad, i guess if you don't encounter problems at the airport you wouldn't even think about it...what a major task to rid it of the rot....the menials are not a problem but it goes deeper....tit

Suvarnabhumi aiport in Thailand to get police station
Sat, Sep 26, 2009
The Nation/Asia News Network

Relevant authorities are planning to boost safety at Suvarnabhumi Airport by giving it a 280-member police force.

The airport police are expected to make the facilities entirely safe.

"If we have Suvarnabhumi Police Station to take charge of the airport, bad people roaming around there should finally disappear," Airports of Thailand president Serirat Prasutanond said yesterday.

He acknowledged that there were complaints about unlicensed tourist guides, unregistered taxis and baggage theft at the airport.

According to Serirat, the jurisdiction of the Suvarnabhumi Police Station would span over 20,000 rai of land.

Serirat disclosed the plan to form an airport police force after a meeting with relevant authorities.

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban chaired the meeting.

Deputy National Police Commission chief General Watcharaphol Prasanratchakit said the National Police Office had been planning to establish Suvarnabhumi Police Station for quite some time.

"We are going to recruit and train staff for this station," Watcharaphol said.

He chairs a committee to solve problems and enhance efficiency at the airport.

Pending the establishment of the station, Ratchathewa police remain in charge of the country's largest airport.

When there are airport police in charge, police from Ratchathewa and Bang Phli stations will oversee the neighbouring areas of the airport only.

Most of my worst experiences in Thailand have been centered around transportation. Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Udon.

In Udon it's the traffic I'm driving in. Elsewhere it's the ripoff taxis and songthews.

Why don't they hand over control of the airport to the Tourist Police?

That would be just plain right tooooooo easy Mr Fawn, why should the tourist police be needed where the millions of tourists are found and have had major problems in the past.

Would make selling the plan to the world wide community a lot easier, I cant imagine many oportunities for tea money, road stops for licences and helmets on the incoming roads not really an option. Just thought of one, car parking and checking for bald tyres and licence expeiry dates. Wheel Clamping City !

Makes sense and make multi skilling easier for the tasks there.

A smiling female officer to assist you with your bags,

Mind you i can see some minds from those dark forces already thinking on the smuggling side of it all.
