Any feedback on the new connection, Lee?

I couldn't load any CPanel pages recently unless I used TOR. I really want to get rid of this Maxnet rubbish as it's affecting my work and I want to know how reliable the CAT service is.

They haven't installed it yet. :( CAT did say 3 days and its now 6 days and counting. Though I was kind of expecting they would be late. :|

I really hope they come soon because this Maxnet is becoming unbearable, pages load very slowly on most sites, cpanel and ftp access is dodgy and general browsing, especially to overseas websites, is unreliable.

I'll let you know when they install it.

Our Internet is slow most of the time, even after a upgrade that was going to give us lighting fast
downloads. We are on the ring road opp Big Jim City, and I know he has the same slow Internet
that we have. Good to know it is not just us or my computer, I was thinking of getting a new one.

Over 2 weeks later I finally have my CAT connection. So far so good, web pages load faster, no problems with emails, cpanels ftp etc. Upload and download speed is good and fairly consistent. Its early days yet to give a full report. Maybe after a month or two I can give a more accurate assessment.

CAT says many people are cancelling TT&T maxnet and moving over to CAT, so if you do decide to change your ISP expect a wait of 2 weeks plus.

I have always heard that Thaksin owned TT&T!If true, maybe his opposition ,the present gov't,are using CAT to squeeze him.
This is just thinking out loud,I don't really know anything about it!

Also,I wonder if CAT loads up on subscribers, will the service become slower?

Thanks Lee.

Its embarrassing having to use proxy servers to service my clients, so I think I'll give CAT a go.

Bad news, I'm having problems with CAT already. I was not able to access udonmap for an hour this morning, and I can not access some websites overseas all day i.e. google.com, youtube, bbc etc. However I can access websites that are hosted within Thailand. :? I am getting time-outs, blank pages and slow pageloads, however Thai website load fast.

Maybe it has something to do with the surge in traffic over the weekends.

I have done a short video to show the problem, I'll upload it to youtube when I can access it again. CAT engineers are just as bad as Maxnet IMO so video evidence is the only way I can explain the problem.

If it continues like this I'll do away with CAT & maxnet and switch back to GPRS. Is there any hope for a reliable connection over here?

I still find it odd that they offer standard and premium packages which have the same upload and download speeds. Are they really saying that if you pay for the standard service you will get a poor service? Why should it be any different? If you pay for 2mbps/1mbps then you should get that or are they only 'guaranteeing' those figures for within Thailand and that's what the Premium package is all about?

I see they do have super-duper packages where you can pay even more for the same bandwidth. I'd love to speak to someone at CAT (or TT&T or TOT) and get a sensible answer for this, but I fear there isn't one as they don't have the foggiest about how these things actually work. I'd get a more intelligent answer from my 2 year old boy.

We asked today about getting CAT, but they need 5 or more to sign up from the village. Not too bothered as I have found ways around TT&T's ineptitude; I'm just annoyed at having to pay full price for a fraction of the package.
