Are you looking for a 4th?

I was a keen bridge player well over 20 years ago, so it was great interest that I noticed “Bridge” listed in activities on this site. Bridge must surely be the greatest parlour game yet devised, (let’s keep it clean!).

Naturally I used a published contact number, and was pleased that it was extant, and disappointed, (though not surprised to discover), that the event was no longer a viable proposition, not enough interest.

If anyone is looking for a 4th, I would be happy to oblige, and I could even provide simple facilities myself. It’s not necessary to have a formal setting.

I was fortunate to live in a “student area” in Manchester, and there were some keen players looking for a rubber. The Dirty Duck, ( as we affectionally called The White Swan in Ladybarn), was literally round the corner from me, and it was more than convenient for me to arrange at least a table per night in the vault. This was the situation for several years; at the beginning we had enough players for 2 tables, sometimes 3. We didn’t play for money, just for the sake of the game. Eventually people drifted away, having finished their university studies, and so we players dwindled until we only had a few rubbers a week.

I used to play a lot while at university and a bit while working for the government (had a bridge club, used to play once a month until kids born, then rarely after). i may be the other Ray is talking about. Would be interested, although have kids again so not always free.... Need one more.

Now it is 4. Where can we meet? I can offer my home; it's in a village, Ban Chiang Pang, about 13km over a badly potholed road, west from the Ring Road at Nong Som Rong.

Indeed now we are 4, and someone else has sent a private message to me. His name is Gus, so now it appears we could have 5.

I would at this stage be using the phone, but I'm waiting for a new SIM card to arrive by post.

As I mentioned earlier, I could also provide some limited facilities. I'm living with my Thai gf on the Pleasantville Estate and have plenty of free-time during the day.

I am intrigued by this remote rural setting along pot-holed tracks, sounds like an interesting journey.

I do not know where Pleasantville Estate is? If you are coming to my place , I offer to meet you all at the old Tesco, and then lead the convoy to my village, perhaps stopping for a small lunch along the way. My life now is full of free-times; but to put a bid, pun intended, on the table: how about meeting at 12-00 noon on Tuesday, Nov 20. If we have a 5th, I would offer to sit out.

Yes, Tuesday the 20th would be ok for me.

The Pleasantville 2 Estate is directly off the south part of the ring road, besides a large used car lot, near to where one has to slow down to cross the railway line.

Apart from that I'm happy to meet out in the sticks.

I assume the old Tesco is that store between Neesoon Store and Big C situated along the main road that runs past the airport.

Sorry, that's the wrong TESCO. The old one is near the southwest side of the Ring Road and Nong Khai road intersection. Perhaps your girl friend would know where it is. I have PMed you my tel no. if you would like my help with directions.
We still need to hear from 2-3 more players.
