australian visa for gf

Postby dill » November 1, 2007, 9:34 pm

after being with my girl for 2 years we finnaly decided to aply for a tourist visa for her and i must admit it was not easy to get all the paper work ,being 150 pages of all sorts, but in the end they told us 4 days after we aplied she has got the visa for three months.
they called first her to make sure they were not lying about knowing me for this period by asking her my full name(even though they all the info in fron of them)and were i live and how and were we met and then told her ,yes they haved aproved it .
i also found out they will only proces i visa no longer than three months ahead.
i used the courier service in udon and did not seem to have any problem apart from them trying to rip me of but i told them that i already knew the prices.
my advice to anyone to try and get a visa for their girl is to get as much paper work together as you can ranging from photos of you and their famila, phone cards, phone bills, statements of family, your previous trips to see her,any bills with her and your name on it,emails, your bank account statements for the past 6 months(if you are sponsoring her)just to let you know that i got told that it had to be tranlated into englis so i took all the thai paper work incluging the farm documents to robinson (the floor where down stairs of the movie theater),where thay teach inglish and got them to do it,i would fully reckonmend them.
it was also the first time i have applied for a girl to get a visa to come to australia and was seprised that it was aproved after all the stuff what i have been hearing about how hard it is to get a visa for a thai girl.
if anyone has got some question or want some advice just pm me and i am more than happy to help you out

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to do this very shortly. She's already applied for her passport which she should get in about 1 weeks time. As I'm in australia I was looking at the Australian Immigration website for this latest info.(See below).

Their main page is: http://www.immi.gov.au/

Visa options for tourists can be found here: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist ... ptions.htm

I'm hoping to get her out here for 2 or 3 months but am a bit unsure how long the process will take to get a visa. As I'm about to start it all, I'll keep a log of what has to be done, costs, time taken etc if people are interested and post on progress every now and again.

Cheers
Phil

Yeah good luck traveller ,if shes the right lady and you decide you want her to stay longer in Aus do everything at your local immigration dept .saves lots of time .you can get a bridging visa so she wont have to go back they wont tell you that in BKK .also I found them a lot more friendly and helpful I got 1 person to deal with up to the final part once they know you are for real its easyer :D

thanxs for a the good lucks
i have looked into the bridging visas and they will only give you a bridging visa if they have got the temporary visa aplycation in their hand,it also does not mater how long the aplication takes to proces due to the bridging visa covering the time period.
yes it wil take inbetween 3 to 5 working days to get your tourist visa but if you have not seplied them with enough information it will take longer to proces
if you have not been with your girl for to long make sure she knows your full due to that being the first question when they rang my g/f
just spend some time getting some papers and documents together then you should not have a problem.
it was great giving all the documents to the vfs courier company and they send it all of for 1200 bath did not have to go for a interview or bangkok.
