There are a few bars in Nong Khai but there are two very good bars one is nongs bar on a narrow soi/road that is to the north of the market and provides a good night out and most of your needs will be taken care of,the second is a new bar called the Blue Lagoon it serves an excellent breakfast and has a good menuy for european food and thai food so it is a good place to go to eat with your lady friend as you both get a good ,i recomend the steak top class and a good price to ,in the late afternoon and evening it is my opinion the best bar in Nong Khai to socialise and meet a lady if that is your thing and of course the lady boys are about if that is your thing, a very good place to have a good night the staff are top class . Both bars are well worth a visit.

So Mick, are you going to enlighten us on the location of the Blue Lagoon bar, assuming you have no vested interest in the establishment?

Well the Kiwi bar finally folded, the Outback sold again(rumor is for about 1/3 the asking),Pink Orchid is long gone,Nobbies doesn't seem to be going anywhere, the Meeting Place has been closed for over a year, the Laundry bar (now,505)was ''remodeled'' and doesn't seem to have much going on,The Danish Bakery seems to have a regular day group and folds early,The Biker bar has either folded or only open once in awhile! So it looks like Brenden and Noi's and the 2 nightime ''player'' bars across from them are getting all the action, epecially at night!
Rudys Bakery gets the morning golfers and intellectuals for breakfast and daytime banter(mostly light or non-drinking crowd).Great breads and rolls,a real baker and a genuine nice guy.The Thasadet gets a regular late morning and early afternoon business at the old store and the new store(closeby and on the Waterfront promanade)gets some early evening customers ocassionally, but seems to be more focused on the the travel agecy and selling some EU imported food stuffs.I have heard some very good experiences from locals about Plane fares and reservations through them!
I don't frequent the bars anymore, but I make the rounds 2-3 times a day on my bicycle(with my dog) ,so I see most of the daily and early evening action on a regular basis. After 9 PM,I can't tell you a thing about what is going on.Went by Brendens about 8 PM Thursday and they were packed both inside and on the deck(riverside),Don't know if this is regular or if they were having ''a free feed''!They were the only ones with any business!

Amazing that in Mick's one and only post he didn't mention that both bars he endorses are owned by Nong!

(Blue Lagoon used to be Bar 505.)

Not too many bars want to show the mags stuggling to a draw against 10 man Wigan, when the "BIG FOUR" are playing on another channel.
I too have had to resort to staying home and being "entertained" :fryingpan: ](*,)
