Best value, ur, value meals in Udon?

Postby ScorpioPower » February 19, 2010, 4:39 pm

I've always been a sucker for TJ's cheeseburgers and the Rauch Kate's bean dishes, but have recently discovered the Book House & Coffee Shop's excellent homemade chicken or beef soups. They come with onions, tomato, potato, herbs, fresh peppercorns and a hot buttered sesame seed roll. At 100 baht you can't go wrong. Proper meat, too. No skimping!

You can get many full-value meals for a lot less than the 100 baht listed here at many of the Thai restaurants dotting the city.

I agree the bookhouse and coffee shop is very good for the price.I mean if you want thai food,ya can't get it any cheaper than off the street. But if ya want farang food the bookhouse/coffee shop is hard to beat.

I was very clearly referring to farang food if you read my original post.

Too bad your heading does not reflect that.

Subsequently, I read your post and thought, well, there are better bargains than that in Udon. And, there are. Thus, if you want full value meals in Udonthani, go to Thai restaurants, or visit the sidewalk offerings near places like Tae Wan Daeng.

Scream out what you mean next time in your heading.

I did, but in my opening line, not in the title.

Read properly before you reply next time. But don't scream about it. Just do it. :pirate:

Read that first line of yours again. Now read the title to the thread. Okay, so far?

Nowhere does it read that your question is limited to farang restaurants. Your reply suggests that you find the best value bargains at the farang establishments you mentioned. I disagree. My position is that Thai restaurants provide better value for the money, which is in keeping with the title of the thread, and in response to your first post.

Circle completed....maybe

And he's still going strong!!!

Either English is your second language or you can't read properly.

The restaurnants I mentioned are farang and the food I mentioned is farang.

I don't read too much tom yum or som tam in there, do you? :|

Now stop derailing threads and stay on topic, please. There's a good un.

I am sorry Scorpio.
While you may well have meant to restrict the topic to Falang food, Tilo is correct. No where in your OP do you in anyway restrict it to Falang Food. Just by only mentioning Falang restaurants can be seen as an opinion, not a restriction. :D

If you want to limit your query to farang restaurants, do so. It should not be too difficult to add a rider, such as you have in your last few posts, that it pertains to farang establishments only.

When all is said and done, you will still find the best bargains, value and quality, at Thai restaurants. Oh, and Chinese restaurants too are very good value for the money in Udon compared to the farang ones you mentioned.

Someone else will have to fill us in on Vietnamese and Indian restaurants and so on. 55555

Thanks Khun Helm, that's what I thought too.

Oh, Scorpio, a small matter only, but learn how to spell 'restaurants' unless, of course, English is your second language.

Okay think I've got the thread now. I recently ate in the Bookhouse, chicken pie and chips 170bht .In my opinion it was about equivalent to any greasy spoon transport cafe back in the UK. Soggy pie and soggy chips for about 3 quid. Value for money? Well I guess so .But the best of its kind in Udon ? I hope not .
