Blackberry use in Udon

Postby Firfox » September 16, 2011, 3:20 am

Hi all

Sorry if this question has been asked previously. I am coming toi live in Udon from the 6th December and will be bringing my Blackberry Bold 9000 with me. Can anyone tell me once I have it unlocked will the 3G work in Udon so once I synchronise it with my email I will be able to both access and responsd to mail whilst on the move? Any help with this question will be most appreciated.

Kind regards

Andy

My niece works for TrueMove and she told me they started 3G in Udon and Khon Kean on Sept 1, but that it's hit or miss in between.

Blackberry use in Udon

It should work in 2G mode in areas where 3G is not available.
Blackberries are sold both in Udon & in the duty free area in Laos (or Chinese devices that look identical to them might sometimes be nearer the truth :D ) so there must be local area 2G coverage already.
I would think that it will be a long long process until 3G is generally available all in & around Udon.

Andy,
Not sure where you are now, but if in U.S., does your phone service require a sim chip to work such as AT&T requires. If not, even unlocked, it might not work in Thailand as all the services there use sim chips to work.
