blood tests, where?

Postby parrot » July 19, 2011, 10:40 am

A few months ago someone mentioned a clinic, I think on Srisuk Rd, that does walk-in blood tests. As I recall, the comments concerning the clinic were positive.
I searched archives, but can't find the location.

Anyone out there know where it's at?

Thonburi Labs clinic.
Heading into town on Thanon Tahan, pass Rajhabat Uni and on to the roundabout, take the first exit and stop... you will see the clinic on the right hand side just before you go over the klong. (approx 30m from roundabout).

blood tests, where?

Postby PhilR » July 19, 2011, 6:26 pm

Just a word for AEK hospital and blood tests. I will be retired this year in Udon Thani or near, and need regular blood test for blood thin/thickness, the INR. Last year on holiday, my INR went loopy as i was unwell and desperately needed to know the INR level. The AEK were cheap, well to my thinking at 400 baht, the result within the hour was easy for me to understand, and, i got a pretty Thai nurse doing the test, and a coffee and a cake while i waited for the result! I used the hospital twice and was very happy with them, though on the minus side, they had run out of cake on the second visit. :D Obviously reading the comments on the clinic it does seem absolutely fine, but just thought i'd mention AEK too, as blood tests very important to many expats ongoing health.

I also use the clinic regularly. If you wait there for the blood report, you can go across the street for a good cup of coffee, and a piece of pastry that would as good as any in Udon. There is also another shop a few doors to the right where you can buy a decent cake for 10 baht for take-away.

Took the wife to Thonburi Labs this morning for a cholesterol and triglycerides check......in and out in 10 minutes, 180 baht and results back in an hour.

They're open 7 days a week.......open at 7AM. Plenty of parking along Srisuk, except from 1500-1730 (or something like that). Pleasant staff. My kind of place.

The cake and coffee was really, a joke. Like i care about that! But it gave a plan B to anyone checking out for blood tests on this forum. The chances of me finding the clinic just like that even with the map, is not good, whereas i know AEK well. My INR yesterday really worryingly high, 4.8 for anyone who understands, and my first stop will be the AEK as i know it, if, i stay alive long enough to make it back to Thailand that is. I still think as prices in the UK high, with blood test private at least 5000 baht plus, so 180 baht, or 400 baht, both seem okay to me! Once again though, the Thonburi Lab sounds ace, i'm not knocking it, it is just that the AEK is a good alterative, if desired, as well. :D

Thanks. I brought my copies of the test results from AEK Udon that cost me over 1700 baht and they did the same test for under 300 baht. Big Savings for me - Thanks again for the post.

FYI.
Thonburi Labs has opened a 2nd Udon location.
Udon Dutsadee Rd., a little North from Ban Hoy Market. Across the street from Kreung Thai Bank.
Open at 07:00.

Great tip, and they count sperm too, right?

Uhh, should it be provided "on site" so it's fresh?

I would imagine so...eh?
