Blue Ice

Does anyone know if Blue Ice can be found in Udon? In the states I would put a couple small bags of blue ice and my drinks in a small cooler to take on the golf course. I've looked all around here in Sakon Nakhon but no luck. Hope someone can help.

I know what you mean.

You put them in the freezer and put them in the cooler box to keep the contents cool.
Never seen them here, anywhere. Only seen cooler boxes available in the last couple of years.

When there was a camping equipment shop on the top floor in the center they had them but don't know where they moved to. Its worth trying on the ground floor near the toilets as they sell tents etc there. Don't know if its the same company though .

I believe I may have seen them in Robinson's. Same floor as Tops market, in the kitchen ware area. Possibly in the aisles that contain plastic ware storage containers.

what i usually do is buy the thicker plastic bags ( the one they use to put hot food) fill them with water , and close with elastic , and freeze them ...easy .....same result ....( in case you do not find your blue ice)

When i send the chill boxes to customers i make the ice packs in the shop . I simply vacuum pack seal a commercial vac bag filled with ice cubes , this can be used and when defrosted just re freeze it again as its heat sealed and doesnt leak , if you are local sometime just drop in the shop and i will make you a couple for nowt ..... FREE .

For use with a cooler I just freeze a small plastic soda bottle or two that is about 4/5ths full of water. I use that to keep drinks cold while fishing. It doesn't leak after thawing and the cooler stays dry.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Some good ideas I will give the ice bags a try. Plenmash, I live in Sakon Nakhon but go to Udon a couple times a month. Where is your shop? I will be in Udon next week for a few days and will drop in.

Its on Adunyadhet rd , the same rd as Ruysuk hotel but the opposite end approx 100 m from the Wattanapong Rd junction traffic lights.. Give me a call when you are in town and i will direct .

From the "old" Tesco store going towards the airport on the ring road, go past the airport turn (through the lights) and go to the next set of lights. As you do so, you will see the Big-C signs on the building and the parking lot on your right. At the next set of lights make a U-turn and head back to the store.

Shado, thanks for the detailed directions. Slowly, but surely, I am learning my way around Udon on my frequent visits.
