Very true we don't, only the story that was written thats all we got, probably never find out what happens in the end, and where are his friends.

whilst i too have difficulty having any sympathy for anyone who is just feeling sorry for themselves . i do have some for this poor guy . firstly , because he was seen in a bar asking for help , does that make him a boozer ? i would not judge him on that evidence . secondly , to take the actions that he did , i would have grave concerns for his mental well being . thirdly , who the hell are we to judge him in any shape manner or form . unless you have ever been in that state of dispair , and im overjoyed that i have not , how could you possible comprehend what is going on his head or heart ? so yes he gets some sympathy from me , and im grateful that ive never been to that place where he finds himself , and hope that i , or any of you ever have to visit .

Sounds like he drifted of into a state of depression and didn't or couldn't move.
Could there but some sort of trick involved...they both agreed to sell up and move oop north...but she went first, and left him, did she take all the satang.. could of been the only way for her to get out for reasons we will never know, he could of drove up there...but may never even have been before so needle in a haystack job, he need some pals around him.
