Just wanted to get some feedback on a ballpark figure for living the village life. I support my wife and newborn comfortably on a monthly budget of 30,000 baht. Am I a 'cheap charlie' ?????

IMHO , as the standard of living is rapidly improving for thai people .
i think it is very unlikely a thai lady
will live in the sticks with a farang , not giving her the expected
life style of a farang relationship. loss of face etc .
the more sophisticated / educated thai lady would not consider the package. [-X

I agree, and also given that, I am sure an educated/sophisticated Thai women wouldn't be with a man twice her age for money and security. She would be out earning a living with that education of hers. Other Thais who see these young Thai OLD falang relationships don't look on them with repect or admiration, they know whats going on. Just a heads up.IMHO

JR, take a good look at the subject title to this thread. Now, OT might be a bit of a div, but when someone mentions the word budget are they talking about money? It's confusing isn't it.

You could be right. I'm still going to get paid today though and send a lump of it to my wife and kids to do what they want with. The rest will be spent on WFB's and beer and a new tyre for the 4x4 which I burst last night driving back p1ssed as a fart from a meeting.

OT.......getting a hammering from the very happy villagers......... \:D/

Na, you still don't understand what I said. Oh well, I tried.

Please talk in English and OT will understand. I was talking to a bloke at work for 45 minutes the other day without
having a clue what he was going on about, anyway we entered into a subcontract at the end of the meeting and OT went down O'learys for a pub lunch and congratulated himself for doing the business with 6 bottles of club lager. It wasn't you I met then was it JR ?

OT.......... \:D/

ftb how many "educated/sophisticated Thai women" do you know personally and have interviewed to reach that (wrong) conclusion? :-k

Regarding your later post, perhaps nobody answered because it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. :-"

Then why was it brought up in the first place.

Maybe a better question to ask is how many members on this forum have wives that would be considered well educated or sophisticated. Not just village girls....

I guess it depends on your definition of "well educated or sophisticated". If you're talking a bank president with an MBA or executive of a multi national corporation, your judgment is probably correct. I'm talking about a girl, yes just a village girl, with possibly a University degree, and a responsible job, capable of supporting herself, which seems to be the norm for most of the women I have met here. Outside of bars of course. :D

And how many ex-pat/forum members are with these village girls who are capable of supporting themselves...I wonder IMHO I bet the percentage is low, real low....

i for one .
i would not consider a tgf , for a long term relationship,
if she does not have a reasonable job , not work in bars .{no offence intended ]
for your info ,,,TGFs , i have had serious relationships with , all have been to uni ..
those who have not, are vunerable , and will accept any farang package .

when i collect my beautiful lady @ 6 pm , from her work .
it makes me soo happy , to see to see her put her small toot ,
next to my fat arse , in my car. which i own , in my name .

IMHO , most thai ladies , whatever their circumstances , would prefer this to a tuk tuk /bus.
LOL

THANKS I think you have answered my question, as to what type of Thais women most of our fellow forum members are with. No offence taken I'm sure.

No offence taken at your simplistic and inaccurate generalisations ftb.

But you may wish to open your mind to what is happening in many relationships in Udon, and, I suspect, many other parts of Thailand.

Then again, you may not.

So you are saying in your opinion most of the members of this forum are with educated women who are capable of earning a living outside of a bar. Just a simplistic yes or no please
