Educated - maybe not.

Capable of earning a living outside a bar - probably yes.

But as is usually the case, generalisations prove nothing.

What's your point? Contrary to popular opinion, quite a few forum members have been married 10, 20, 30, and some nearly 40 years to their Thai spouse. You seem to take pleasure in questioning the motives of their wives by inferring any girl from the countryside is uneducated/unsophisticated/helpless (you're not of the yellowshirt camp by any chance?). When you chalk up your first 10 years with your wife, I'd say you'd be qualified to chime in on your own. Until then, I'd be watching my atm card.

for your info ,,,TGFs , i have had serious relationships with , all have been to uni ..
those who have not, are vunerable , and will accept any farang package .

when i collect my beautiful lady @ 6 pm , from her work .
it makes me soo happy , to see to see her put her small toot ,
next to my fat arse , in my car. which i own , in my name .

IMHO , most thai ladies , whatever their circumstances , would prefer this to a tuk tuk /bus.
LOL

Your statement is not correct. I presume your experience with thai girls is very limited judging from what you say. Females in Thailand are also capable of love, very much so. And they may well be happy with a man whom they have taken into their hearts even if he is not rich or has "a farang package". Whatever that may be. I don't understand your comment about your car being in your name. Do you think that is something special? My car is in my name. So? And of course your gf prefers you to pick her up instead of having to take a taxi, that is really no brainer. But would she think less of you if you did not do that and she had to take a tuktuk? She would lose face to her workmates for one.

Quite a few eh, how many is that. But being married that long thats commendable. Those couples I'm sure didn't have the huge age gap between them, and those aren't the ones I'm talking about....

"Just wanted to get some feedback on a ballpark figure for living the village life. I support my wife and newborn comfortably on a monthly budget of 30,000 baht. Am I a 'cheap charlie' ?????"

Food for thought for those considering living here with a significant other, with little/no savings and without medical insurance:
Read the nation article about the German guy who's awaiting donations for transport to Germany for better medical care ( nationmultimedia.com/home/2010/09/06/national/US$-6200-dollars-more-needed-to-send-comatose-Germ-30137349.html ) (add the www.)
And, if you haven't been to a general ward, or worse still, the trauma ward, in the General Hospital......a visit would be worthwhile.
The private hospitals won't treat you without insurance/ready cash/or a Thai bank account showing sufficient funds. And the general hospitals, while they can provide adequate care for a bruise, stomach ache, etc, aren't the kind of place I want to be when I need some serious medical attention.
Just food for thought.
