Business owners only forum. As we all know, farangs cannot own a business normally. So will it be in Thai then?

Farangs can own 49% of a business so I guess you could say they are part owners.

Actually it was a female Thai business owner that asked for this forum, she can speak very good English, and since it's an 95% English language forum it will be in English only.

How can it be a "great idea" to bar at least 95% of the forum membership from reading a post. Some of these members have been around longer than the present administration. Surely if something is so secret it needs to be hidden from general view, then thats what the PM service is for.

Strange attitude for someone that said....

The attributes of the President, or is it lack of them? The downfall of the once mighty dollar. The tax and pension systems in place for the citizens. The activities of the VFW.And a multitude of other "interesting, yawn" subjects which are of no interest to anyone but a yank. This is after all a forum based in Udon Thani about the joys or problems of living here or elsewhere in Thailand. Most of you have decided to leave the US to come here, and regardless of what you write it ain't going to change anything across the pond, so why not accept that. Celebrate your heritage but leave the many problems back home. I for one am not interested in Clinton, Obama or even Bush.
May I suggest if this prattle is to continue that a forum heading for all American subjects is established and we won't find them in such diverse headings as General Topics about Udon, Notice board and many others directly unrelated subjects.
I presume General Debates is the correct forum heading for this?

I would have thought that you would have been all in favour of it... :D

BH I would have thought that anyone could see there is a vast difference in proposing a separate forum for different interests than creating one that the majority of members can never access.

To trubrit.

Why should it bar others to read it ?
In my mind everybody can have some information to supply
others with, right ?

Truebrit, I don't really understand your objection.
I don't have a business here so I have no interest in it, also I have seen no mention of barring other members but I may well have missed that.
But if I did have a business I would welcome a place where I could discuss strategies, pricing etc in private without the public being present as would happen in any normal business seminar around the world.
A business forum would simply make it easier for all business owners to stay in touch.
Lets face it, without these people who are prepared to invest time and money into Udon our life here would be much less comfortable.
So if they want a private forum, let them have it!

Me too. Just don't understand the need for the secrecy.

No Trubrit it is about interests. Personally i am not a businessman in Thailand & have no interest in their problems & concerns. But I would imagine that if I was I would be more than happy to have a forum where I could discuss similar issues & problems that they encounter with staff, rules & regulations, customers & suppliers without such topics being high jacked by "humorous" comments & banter from posters that inflicts most threads.
I guess I am just the sort of person that doesn't feel worried or concerned about what I don't need to know & don't see progress as a threat but a positive opportunity.
I guess, if you have a business, then you can contact Lee for access. If you don't then I am struggling to see what interest (same as American politics) it would be to you....

OK so we are back in Blighty, you and I each have a company of top biscuits designers, maybe we have the odd drink together in private to discuss how much we are charging Nestle to produce such ingenious designs as the Jammy Dodger.
There is room for both our companies and I don't want to be charging more than him for a simple Digestive design.
We talk privately.
Happens all over the world every day.
