So I assume she'll have to pay after 2pm. Is that new?
I thought ASEAN and Japanese visitors to Lao didn't have to pay. :?

After 2 PM it's 50bt. Chump change I know, but to some it may matter.

up2you wrote:Ok, lots of info.. Sounds like going into Laos is a bit more trouble than I thought but with the info you've given should help if I need to do that. I'm going to try the Immg office first, see what they say. I'm only two weeks into my 30 day visa now does anyone have thoughts on if I should wait till close to expire or better to go early see what they say? I feel stupid now I didn't get a visa before I came, I thought it would be easy to just pop over to Laos and back, problem solved. One thing I'm sure of I don't want to overstay so I'll go to Laos twice if I have to.

But it does sound like just to get my visa stamped I can go over and come back the same day, right? Still learning the ropes... thanks

If it were me, I'd wait til the last week. Still gives you time to seek other options.

Hi,
up2you, I think you should go to the Imm office in Udon now and explain to them. They will tell you the best way to go. If you just cross the bridge you will only get a couple of weeks P. to S. stamp in you P.P. when returning to LOS. For longer you have to go to the Thai Embassy in V.T., and as i said that is an overnight stop. It was for me, but that was some years ago. Also it is cheaper to get an extention for your P. to S., and much easier, from Udon Imm.
Please let the board know how you got on.
Cheers Doug.
