If you both reside in the same vehicle registration area it is necessary for both to go along with the vehicle to the license office where the vehicle details will be checked and both parties sign the transfer. The log book will be amended and normally the same registration number will be retained . If however the vehicle was previously registered in a district other than where you live, it will be necessary for the seller to"sign it off" from there and accompany you to your local office, where after the identification checks it will be allocated a new , local number and a new book issued in your name . Of course all the requirements about registering a vehicle still apply. See another topic forum for details .
