Makro have a range of power tools made in China. Can't think of brand name, but they are yellow colour. Drills start from about 300bht. I bought a blower for cleaning under the car seats, been going strong 2 years now, 260bht. Maybe I am just lucky, but in that time I have managed to burn out 3 Crap & Deckers.

Don't bother with the cheap **** from China.... You'll pay ฿500 for a drill that will last for about 80% of the job that you want to do  Best to buy a brand name, Makita, Wolf, Bosch or Dewalt etc. etc. They are half the price that you would have to pay back in the UK ( just for eg.) and would would probably outlast you :yikes:
Failing that ... get Back and Decker :sleepy: ... its about as close as you'll get to professional whilst still in the hobbiest class ;)
Go to Tool Pro on the outer ring road.. sometimes they have some very good deals on brand names 8)

No , not directly, but all employees of a manufacturing company do have a vested interest to ensure the quality of their products. An ethic that, unfortunately seems to have been lost now.As to buying a brand name and avoiding 'inferior, Chinese manufactured ones.Next time your in Tool Pro take a look at the boxes, or even the tools themselves. You will find most of the major brands, Bosch, AEG, De Walt(A B-D subsidiary) and many others, are made in either China or India. The reason you can buy them cheaper here is obviously the lower production costs in these places and also the lower taxation in Thailand.I can assure you many of these brand name products do not meet the quality control standard of the original products made in Europe that made them so famous. My own particular favourite, Makita from Japan are now outsourcing a lot of their production, but so far are maintaining the quality of the product, which of course means higher prices. So to maintain their market share, have introduced a slightly different , but similar sounding brand name, also available in Tool Pro, but built to much lower standards than the parent name, Makita. As said before. If you want cheap, buy the yellow originals for less than 500bht, don't pay a 400% premium because you recognise the name on the box, both will have the same life span and the same poor after sales service. ;)

There is some real inexpensive stuff at Big C.

I agree with Aznyron's assessment - Crap & Decker fits the lawn care tools I bought in Udon.
