I'm wondering why the owners of this new venture have yet to speak up. :?
Do they lack the business savvy to promote and excite the public as to the progress of their endeavor and to keep this thread active?
Or is it another one of those cultural differences?

JJ, I think this sponsor, like a number of sponsors, merely funds an advertisement, which results in the Original Post (advertisement) by Lee.

Some sponsors either do not see the topic, or indeed follow the thread if one subsequently develops. ;)

Thanks for the reply Jon i and i'm sure a few more BMs look forward to your opening, if you have the right products at a reasonable price [we are not looking at something for nowt by the way] i'm sure you will do well.

As someone said in another thread Carefour had the opportunity to bring in a lot of farang custom but IMO blew it by offering almost the same range as the rest of the big time opperators.

Hi, Jon,

I sure hope you don't limit your stock to European and Downunder supplies.

We American's find a number of American products lacking here in Udon.

I'll be happy to make you a short list of items that I surely miss.
Beginning my list with this post. Possibly others from the U.S. might like to forward their most missed favorites not available in Udon.

I'll Begin with these; Krusteaz Bake & Fry - Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix - Bisquick mix for baking delicious light and fluffy biscuits, etc, etc...

These items are around the top of the all American favorites sold in the states.

As other cravings come and go, I'll post more, hoping other Americans will join in to help you better understand what we old U.S. guys have enjoyed the most over the years. I can tell you, at 130K, I haven't missed much :D

My best regards,
Doc

I'll second that.
After you have opened and had some time to catch your breath...I'll inform you as to my "wish list". :D

Also, I hope you realize there is a wealth of domestically produced Western food items, IE: Mexican food products, bottled Italian pasta sauces, pickles, etc.
Have a look here for some other ideas: http://www.donsfoods.com/

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES . To start with chern chim will be stocking a high % of european goods but i hope to quickly develop the stock range as and when i get sufficient demand / enquiries ,im open to any suggestions to source products thru the importers i currently use i can usually find most items , for example i was asked for john west corned beef recently its now included in the range and i already have the nana food source range coming . i realise this is Udonthani and im gonna make every effort to keep the prices keen with an option for all to purchase at wholesale , if anyone comes in the shop and wants a single item then thats retail but if they prefer to buy a pack of the same item then thats wholesale, inturn meats(5kg min purchase)/cheese (1kg min) will be wholesale - smaller packs usually 200-250g will obviously be on hand as i have packing/vac machinery on site. I am doing my best to be open on time ie; 1st may but thats abit optimistic since my hossy spell and the broken arm so might be a few days late but not much.I am always asked wots my favourite thing in the shop the list is too long to say,, BUT,,rubharb crumble with ambrosia custard takes some beating as does the ambrosia cream rice pudding,,i can reccomend the steakhouse homefries (big chips),, kippers,,haywards pickled onions/beetroot,,oxo,, bisto,,mushy peas,,tetley-pg tips tea bags,,etcetc. With some of the more expensive products such as branston i will supply them in catering 2l tubs and 300g jars but also smaller portion containers again to make the product more affordable. iam open to any suggestions ref chern chim,, and i might need some official tasters around the time of opening !!!. thank you again jon

Bugger! I've already skipped lunch (the missus isn't home) and that list of products has made me even more starving. :(

Ok me and my Mexican food El Chorro Tottillas flour and corn. Refried beans, Enchilalda sauce, Jalipino Cheese sauce.

Chorizzo

Walnuts

Pie fillings Lemon, Apple and Cherry

Corn Bread mix

Pre made icing for cakes

Canned not smoked Hams

Well that is my wish list and things I will and do buy elsewhere but require long travel at the moment.

With me when I price things I factor in the cost of a trip to Bangkok for those special items. That should give you some good wiggle room

But there is such a huge range don't just stock for me. If others have an interst in the products by all menas please do.

Everyhting that I losted should be on yuor Villa source list.

Please let us know wehn you open so we can have a look see. I wish you all the luck in the world. I like small shops where I get to know the owner. I'm also a creature of habit, still go to the first three places I went when I came here eight years ago. On vacation thye are friends and always get my buisness.

I' ve got a good source for Fresh Smoked Bacon in Nong Khai if you need it. Best I have had here. I buy in small portions two to six Kilos ar a time. So if you want to try it you won't be looking at a huge investment. They will deliver to Udon if ther are enough orders.

I think there are probably enough guys around that have tried it now a simple sign up for an order might keep you from having to stock it.

I'm sure you are very busy righ now but, you asked :-"

Yes, the Smoked bacon from Nong Khai is the best I have tasted in Thailand by a long way.
