Ere we go, statement made
Chern Chim appears to be going under or Up for sale, so cut their losses.
How come just becasue a business is up for sale one always asumes the worst, or has a negative view. The shop is for sale for personal reasons. No guesswork there, no need to banter about losses, going under and the like. It really makes me sick the innuendos and the critique about a shop which many of us have used just because the OWNER is selling for a really valid reason. If when sold the NEW owner does not live up to ones expectations then you can complain , until then, Give John a chance to sell a perfectly reasonable business. Thankyou.
Oh and by the way before any wise a*** says anything, John is NOT aware of my comments I made them as I am personally sick of the couch potatoes who do nothing but MOAN. If you don't like it MOVE.

i think cherm chim is here to stay. yes jon is missed but paul and his products. are still there. it wont stop me from going and spending. its what was needed in udon only my piont of veiw.

In defense of Jimbo,who I have great respect for,I would venture to guess that his ''going under'' remark was a mistake in semantics!

I would venture to say,Jimbo is seldom negative and not a gossip monger!

The fact that a business is up for sale or cutting costs,does not mean that it is ''going under'',obviously!And those that make only negative comments, should not do so outside their personal experience!But if their experience is in fact negative,I think the truth is always a valid post!

Thanks for clarifying that Stan. You are correct, I did not mean to imply anything negative about the business. Just pointing out that most prudent business people, when selling off an asset for whatever reason, be it a business, house, car, whatever, will refrain from spending money to make long term investments, unless that investment increases the asset value for the sale. Just offering that as one possible explanation for the disappearance of their ads, since the question came up. I have no inside information, just speculating, and the last time I looked, that is OK on a forum.

First of all i would like to clarify the situation ref the shop. i own the place so take it from me this is whats happening and why .
Im sorry to spoil some folks party but CHERN CHIM is most definately not going under , the business is for sale because my elderly father recently visited me here and he has asked me to go back to sunny Lincolnshire to take care of our family business ,Paul does not want to stay on if i am not going to be here full time hence the sad decision to sell. the business with all it entails ie; ever increasing stock to TNS supermarket , the airport , sub branches /agents in B.Dung and kKaen and the many restaurants and bars we supply in around Udon CC certainly does very well (Preban at FBI has seen the books and i think he would agree) this going under talk is total crap the shop is fully stocked and trading as normal until sold simple as that , believe me im in no rush to go back to the UK.

I have been fed up with hearsay remarks ref the sale and whats happening , if people think the selling price is too high without knowing the ins and outs of the business then sobeit, dont buy it.... having said that im not an idiot i realise that the buyer will probably be a Brit and with the poor exchange rate i am willing to drop the asking price to counteract this thats why if says negotiable

Ref the CC thread and Udonmap guide , i spoke to Lee and explained i have had a couple of interested parties both were not committal ref carrying on any advertising as details of any ad may need changing so the UM ad was cancelled hence the thread being removed. i think it was one of the sites most visited threads very informative and light hearted but recently ive been to busy to keeo up with it and the posts decreased . I HOPE LEE WILL CONFIRM THE ABOVE AND ALSO I DID PAY MY ADVERTISING BILLS B4 ANYONE THINKS IM BROKE AND GOING UNDER.

I sincerely hope the new owner will keep everything the same and i will work with them in all ways to help this happen.

The attitude of some tiitle-tattlers towards the trails and tribulations of CC have made my decision to go back "home" all the more easier .

On a final note due to the imfamous Adunyadhet rd being a main songkhran artery the shop will close 7pm 12th April and reopen 16th April at 9am i will be around the area if anyone needs a fix of anything just telephone or stock up b4 holding up at home .

On the shop front got some cracking streaky smoked bacon in at 180 bt per kilo also Danish Kassler ham (small loins or sliced.) Atora beef suet going quik but not as fast as the bassets liquorice allsorts. I think its readily known that Guinness is now no longer being imported into Thailand probably why the murphys stout is selling so well.

So why the rent if it's an outright sale?

You quite correct mr panick it should of read i own the business as apposed to the place referring to the building , if you think i should be stripped naked tied to the monument circle and bull whipped for this major indiscretion then sobeit i will take my punishment.
