Childrens Day

Its childrens day on January 13th. That special day, once a year, devoted to the kids of Thailand. The cinemas give free admission. The police, army and airforce throw open their doors to entertain the kids of all ages.
However for one bunch of kids they cannot go. The children from the orphanage. Owing to the logistics of taking so many kids anywhere, ( Ask Ray) they don't get out of the home. All is not lost however. I have been asked by the director of Udon Thani Girls Home to extend her invitation to everyone to come along and join her girls on this special day. They are erecting tents in the grounds and laying on some form of entertainment, but they would like our help. What does it take to make any kid say OOOH, why food of course, not the every day rice variety, but the things kids all over the world love. You've got it. Sweets, biscuits, cakes , ice cream and fruit.So if you go along a few pressies will be most welcome. If you can't get there I would be prepared to pick them up around town.
I myself will be going to the wholesale fruit market to pick up a few things before going. can I get anything for you.? Look forward to seeing some of you there. Lets make the 13th a lucky day for these kids.

Good post Val....wish I could be there for it and help out but I'm now back in the UK for a couple of months
Hope it all goes off well and the orphans have a great day...one of my G/f's best friends works in an orphanage for children with HIV and I'm regulary updated with information and photo's....It always cuts close to the heart and brings a tear to my eye so... "CHOK DEE "for the 13th and it would be great if you could post a few photo's

Sounds like a good plan Val!Why don't we formulate our plans on Jan.6th at the night market informal forumites get together.That leaves a week to get it together.I think it would great thing to do

2 yrs ago, a fun day out, they put on little show, with older kids doing an cheerleading/acrobat show. very few farangs there, missed last years.
