The new Siam Grand Hotel near the old Big-C has a big Chinese restaurant just off their main lobby, but I haven't eaten there. Looks very nice!
Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

MK restaurants are the best for Chinese food in UT.
Do the waitresses still do that crazy dance a couple of times a day?

Yes, instead of the national anthem at 6, the staff still lines up and does their little jig. MK is one of our favorites......food's always super fresh.....made to your choosing......and comes with a health-nut listing of what you've ingested as part of your check-bin. But I wouldn't refer to it as Chinese.
Last good Chinese meal I had in Udon was about 10 years ago in the Charoensri Grand Chinese restaurant......the food was excellent. I'd guess the Centara still has a Chinese restaurant......anyone been there?

Mae Yaa would be high on my list for Chinese restaurant food in Udonthani.

Having posted the facebook page of the Centara in KK on another thread and which gave numerous activities/promotions of their inhouse restaurant/booze deals, looked at the page for Udon Thani, hardly anything on it,no info on special meal deals/promotions.Missed opportunity to market Luk Fatt Restaurant (great name  ).

Searched on Udonmap for dimsum and got this thread, maybe PapaG can confirm it is still open 8)

Nope. MY is definitely Thai/Vietnamese. I eat there at least twice a month.

Really? I hope it is genuine Chinese. I'll surely give them a try!

Still open for biz...one of my weekly stops.

I've been told, but have never confirmed that there's a Chinese restaurant opposite Toon Koon hotel on Makkeang Rd.

There is a sign for a new Chinese Restaurant in UD behind the DTAC store. The best sala paow and kanom cheep are made by man on Prachraksa Rd down the street from the gai young restaurant.

Siem Hai Chinese is indeed opposite Ton Koon Hotel, a family favourite, and great value too.

When I first began eating there, I did not like the atmoshere or want to return, though have since come to change my opinion.

Best to go in a larger group, so more dishes can be sampled and shared.

Indeed, Siem Hai is my and the Thai family's favorite. The roast suckling pig is excellent. I recommend only for parties of 6 or more. If having the suckling pig order ahead of time to avoid an extensive wait.

Was walking trough UD Town this afternoon and happen to notice a banner advertising for a new Chinese Restaurant. No other details other than pictures of food that will be featured. It was posted on a building which appeared to be having a make over and it's located around the corner from Wine Society.

Siem Hai restaurant is recommended. I am not sure if they provide English menus and the staffs there speak English or other foreign languages or not. This is a old restaurant of UTH, probable the oldest Chinese restaurant in UTH. It is located in the opposite of Ton Kun Hotel.

My wife and I went to Siem Hai yesterday. If ambience is a major must for you, you might want to go elsewhere. It looks like an old school cafeteria, but with round tables. The food however, was quite tasty. We only had 4 dishes, but they were good. I had fish deep fried with garlic, served with Sriracha sauce. Very nice, cooked just right. We had the spicy seafood salad and this too was quite good. The squid was not overdone, which can be a problem with some restaurants. The stir fried vegetables were very good also. My wife had some dish with duck feet, which I passed on, but she enjoyed.

They have roast suckling pig, but you have to order 3 hours in advance, and it is not cheap, 1800b. We will go back soon to try the pig with our kids and a friend. I neglected to find out how many people it will serve. The people at other tables had some noodle dish which I would like to try also. The menu is quite extensive and in both Thai and English. Beer is available and no corkage fee if you bring whiskey.

Shlomo hit the nail on the head. At first I swore I would not return, due to the atmosphere, though have come to appreciate it as just a quirk, for what is otherwise very nice food at reasonable prices. There are usually a few other tables, often with some of Udon's VIP's. Just do not sit near the TV.

Pigs might think that's way too cheap even for a piglet.
