Anybody know date and time when the parade and celebration on Chinese New Year begins in Udon? Thousands are there, hundreds of booths- it's a real highlite of life in Udon!

I found out it starts the 8th. Why they don't start today- Saturday- I can't imagine. The celebration is held in the streets around where Legacy and the Bangkok Bank HQ are located. What time the parade starts the 8th I still don't know, but the celebration goes on all evening, with lots of food booths selling all sorts of food as well as other things. There's also a stage show with lots of Thai singers and dancers. And zillions of people. I'll be there, so say hi if you see me! (There will also be a far smaller celebration at Nong Bua.) It's one of the best events of the year here, so don't miss it! Here are some pictures from past celebrations: https://www.google.co.th/search?q=chine ... AYsQsAQINA

Chinese New Year!

I heard from a friend that there is no more opening parade. Merchants were not happy that their tables could only be set out after the parade had passed, so they could not make money. The friend says the festivities begin the 8th at 5 pm. I have a Thai friend visiting from Australia, so I plan to go the 10th. Say hi if you see me!

Please wear suitable clothing when attending a concert in Udon Thani. Slacks and short-sleeved shirts are ok, shorts, tank tops or muscle shirts are not.
