Hi guys,

I went to see, 'Daeng'', nice lady, and gave a soothing massage.
It had been posted she gives a massage/chiropractic treatment.
Possibly, because I didn't specify the added chiropractic aspect of the treatment, I didn't get it.
All the other ladies were working at the time, and I never heard one pop as one hears when the spine is aliened coming from any of the other treatments.

It's no big deal to me one way or the other, however, my experience at the location by the Army hospital didn't come close to a chiropractic adjustment, it was simply a massage.

For each his own, I guess.

From seeing the way Thai workers approach their work, the last thing I want is some street massage guy wrenchin' on my neck.

As I surely need chiropractic care from time to time, I will soon contact the American Chiropractic Assoc in search of a chiropractor who may be interested in semi retiring here in Udon.

If any one of us in need were put to the test, it just may be we could convince some chiropractor from one of our home countries to at least check us out here in Udon for a possible semi retirement scenario.

There's enough slingin' on this wonderful forum that at least one of us should be able to blue-sky just one chiropractor in the world to settle here.

No ladies, or jackrabbits on steroids sized chiropractors needed, only brutes that have the technical skills to do the job right.

Lets give it a shot, we might just be able to pull it off, sometime down the road.

If you don't ask, you'll never know.

Good luck...to all of us.

Anyone else tried Daeng's treatment? Is she still available at the Army hospital?

If so could anyone email me Daeng's phone number at ktbluethunder @gmail.com ? I am a new member of this forum and cannot use PM function yet. Good luck !

Orthopedic Massage @ Army Hospital

Postby lee » April 20, 2011, 5:44 pm

I'm currently having problems with my back so I decided to check out the Army Hospital massage. I went there on Monday but they were closed. The sign on the door said they're open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am-6pm, so I went back the next day only to find they were fully booked so I took a business card to make a booking for another day. I've attached a copy below.

FYI Daeng still works there, her number is third from the top in the attachment below. ;)

BTW Standard massage is 100bt and herbal massage is 200bt.

Hi, I have looked in Udon for a real USA trained Chiropractor, but at this point I have not found any. But when I am in Bangkok I visit Dr Von Thatenhurst at Natural Therapies Clinic, he has moved his clinic to PhayaThai BTs and Airport Link. At some point it would be good if someone had a clinic in Udon.

Tell Dr Von, hello from Thomas

I had a 2-hour session with Daeng this afternoon, good as always; others are good also. Only one of them annoys me..chit-chats too much.

Ray, I am assuming you are talking about massage, not spine and neck adjustments, right?

Right, so I went to see K. Daeng yesterday after scouring the boards for some sort of relief from my persistent lower back pain. Dope was not doing the trick for long anymore and I needed an adjustment pronto. I came across this thread and had the wife call ahead to explain my history and exactly what I needed. She said come right over. So, that is what I did. Skipping all the blah-blah, I have this to report:

- The absolute BEST massues in Udon. I can't say I've tried them all, but I've tried more than a couple dozen. Her hands reminded me of "Grandma's Hands". Completely relaxing.
- Don't expect to get an adjustment. She does massages and I felt my back was primed and ready for that extra contortion that would pop everything back in place, but it never came. A bit disappointing in that despite my "fluency" in Thai and falanguage (flailing with hands) I could not convey to her that I needed that extra "pop".
- She's not a spring chicken. I don't care, but some might. She is late 50's or so, and THAT translates to serious experience.
- I am sure she has a repertoire of routines she could go through, but she focused on just those things relevant to my lower back. Much appreciated! I definitely will be back for her normal massage.
- Apparently, she is indeed an instructor of many. There seemed to be a class coming in of about 8-10 students as my session was concluding.
- Very pleasant demeanor and the location is very scenic. To get there, if you are on Rt 2 North coming into Udon, you will pass Ring Road, then the Army hospital on the left. Almost immediately after the Army hospital fence ends, you will see a car dealer on the left and a 7-11 on the right. Turn into the driveway immediately after the rinky-dink convenience store after the dealership. Behind both will be a white building with wood siding. That is the place. If you end up having to wait, the view of the lake and the shade of the large trees should do you just fine.
- Asking price for two hours of the best massage I'd ever had in Udon was THB 200. I gave her an extra THB 200 on GP (general principle).
- I highly recommend without reservation. Thanks to the poster above who first reviewed her and the one who posted the phone numbers.

Note: We think she may do housecalls. She was open to the suggestion. I'll post if we can make that happen.

Just reading about possible semi retirement options that some have suggested.

Issues

Work Permit
Licencing to practice with Thai Medical Council or regulatory agency
Would any Insurance company cover / reimburse the charges
What sort of fee would they charge here in Thailand - 1000 B for a referral session, Will OP's pay that sort of fee ???
