New Map

Postby FrazeeDK » March 7, 2006, 8:12 pm

ah ha!!! I see the former red dot "adult entertainment" is gone and replaced with much fewer karaoke/other dots.. Is the a reflection on the string that felt the identification of "adult entertainment" was drawing riff-raff to our fair town? If so, good on ya..!

Hi, folks -- I'm pretty new to this forum as far as postings go, but I've been reading it for a while and have found a lot of valuable information on Udon and the surrounding area, so thanks for that. One thing that's always "bothered" me a little on the map (and in some photos advertising new establishments) are the locations of adult entertainment spots. I think the new map is an improvement in this regrard, since fewer of these spots are shown and they are identified in a less conspicuous manner. I'm not a bible thumper or moralist by any means, but I just can't see any good reason to advertise such establishment to the world. In my humble opinion, if you want to preserve Udon as a livable city and prevent it from becoming a magnet for punters, references to such establishments should be eliminated, including the locations of "non-traditional massage." Those of you who live in Udon know where these places are, so why advertise them? By doing so, you're attracting the wrong type of people to your fair town. Just my opinion. Good luck to you all. Stu

Another "radical" idea -- disconnect the webcam in the Aussie Pub. I sure don't mean to cause any waves here, just trying to help preserve the "standard of living" in a nice town.

surely stu you can't be saying having a camera in a pub/resturant in udon is lowering the standard of living in udon? :-k
I think you will find that aussie pub and resturant might not be to happy with cutting off the camera as i think they may be a sponsor of Udonmap. #-o

I don't know, BM, it was just a thought. To me, the pub appears more like a beer bar with hostesses than a restaurant. I don't have anything against beer bars and hostesses, but I just don't think it's good advertising for the town. As for the Pub being a sponser, that is true, but there are a lot of other sponsers who don't have webcams. Anyway, it was just a thought. I plan on retiring to the area soon and I sure don't want to see it become another haven for punters.

I agree with Stu about the red dots. I didn't want to poke my nose in before because the map is Lee's baby and I respect his decisions, but I think the new map is an improvement.
