Computor repair Shop ??

Postby Guns482 » September 16, 2008, 12:38 pm

recently due to a Computor glitch, had to utilise the services of the IT Workshop Shop just up from City Lodge, same road anyway.
In the process, they managed to load onto an already bad Windows XP another version and in the process completely destroyed any likns to other programmes on the computor.
The Windows XP had lost by itself ( honest ) a Win 32 config driver, and while they were checking they also found that my graphics card had gone down and also my power pack, ( which they had installed some 8 months before.
So they fixed the power pack, installed a new card ( I had purchased elsewhere), and then proceeded to FIX ( being the operative word) my windows XP.
Which then completley screwed up the computor, they kept saying my windows was bad ( original prog form UK ) .
hence yours truely lost his cool and took my box opf tricks to a friend who managed to fix the problems,.
What I forgot, their actions then made it impossible to do anything with my' C' drive .
Luckily I have two hard drives, the other one has all the info, 'C ' Drive is just for programmes.
just thought I would let you all know, skill in fixing a programme ZILCH, skill in finding fault ( ie power pack ) good.
often my computor does behave itself, but anyone know a GOOD shop if probs arise ?

My God!! I was just about to wander in there to sort out my problems, but was a bit put off that it more resembled a back street motor cycle repair shop.

It has been suggested to ask "Pops" who can point in the right direction.

Thanks, I have heard that the shop by the traffic lights Phosri Road just before the level crossing coming from Big 'C' is good, owners speak english so that helps, but no idea how good, but they have been there over 10 years more than most shops.

I fix my own PC so far I did not have to consult a professional if things get to bad i just format my computer and install a legal copy of my windows which now is Vista I would not buy illegal copies of windows operating system your just throwing away your money. I also have a external hard drive 40 gig
which I save my photos which is the only thing I want to save if my PC crashes every thing else I can get it back again as for music I save it on a CD as for email I use both hotmail & yahoo which stays on the server
Now I just bought a new iMac (apple) this I must confess I know nothing about so I consult my friend jetdoc who also has a iMac and he helps me along with any thing I do not understand or want to do

Are you attempting to appear as a "clever sod", or someone who is totally inept when it comes to computers?

From your post I, honestly, can't decide.

1) I concur 100% about your view regarding paying for a "non legal" operating system - in my mind that would be madness - other programs, though, that utilise the O/S are "fair game"!

2) If you can save everything that you wish, on a 40 Gig external hard drive, good luck to you.

3) If you can save ALL of you music on A (suggests) ONE CD, then, again, good luck to you.

4) Totally agree regarding email.

What, though, do you do if having backed up ALL of your files (using Windows Back Up and Restore) it then fails to recognise that you have done that?

A conundrum that I have posted under a separate thread.

;)
What is hope??????
