Nice to read your update on the current situation Lee. Sorry that the original topic was locked but I am sure we all understand why. The future of OUR forum certainly looks promising, due mainly to your hard work and the contribution the moderators make. May I take this opportunity to thank Arjay for his efforts to keep the forum running smoothly and wish the new team all the very best. Remember folks, these guys do not get paid but spend a lot of their time ensuring the forum runs smoothly for all our benefit. Thanks again guys. =D>

In order to boost the number of hits for UM,could it not be interesting to add free online dating?

I fully concur with the remarks of TB.

The forum has come a long way since its inception, as with most things in life there have been a few humps and bumps on the road that have had to be negotiated, but quality products don’t just happen easily, there is an awful lot of hard work behind the scenes which often goes unappreciated.

I was trying to think of an iceberg analogy, but with the heat that tends to prevail in Udon an iceberg would not have lasted and increased in size the way that UM has

While the number of hits is important, I hope that Lee's first priority is to maintain quality.

In that way he will ensure the continuity of this very important (in local terms) forum.

There are numerous websites and forums for online dating, and gormless chit-chat, if that is where people want to go.

Im backing Jackspratt here, I would think most males that end up in Udon have a partner already and have done the hard yards which is a lot more fun than dating sites, as they say tried and tested, dating sites in my opinion do not fit into the profile of udon- map.

Edit to my above post - I meant to say endless, rather than gormless. :D

gormless was abit harsh Jacko, seeming I am one of those longtime loners trying to find an Isaan woman via dating sites..
Not every man has a partner Coxsy when they come to Udon. Udon has been my base for umpteen years, but because I dont drink and are somewhat reclusive, I have never met a woman yet by wandering the streets or walking the park, or via my little bunch of thai friends. The internet seems the only way for me..sure there are dating sites, but not one specific to Isaan women, which would be nice.

I am not bothered if UM doesnt offer such a service, but I do see potential for a solely Isaan dating site, because North East Thailand is becoming the most popular area for farang to retire and marry..

maybe I will poke my nose into the Ruysuk Hotel soiree's next time I am in town, maybe thats a place to get started.

Unusual for you to get your words mixed Jack . :-k
On the suggestion of a dating section, not only are there not many eligible bachelors on here but there are even less ladies looking in .But I suppose it would be possible to include a genuine photo of yourself as an avatar and give further details in your profile.Who knows one of the wives might have a sister . :D
