Anyone else that would like to lead/moderate a particular forum please let me know. Basically it's nothing too serious at this stage; it just gives you the power to delete and edit any post that you feel that is inappropriate.

Anyway thank you Yorkman for helping out, it is much appreciated.

Rgds, lee

Well I too have limited time to do this the same as Lee. While I can cover the "round the clock" problem to a certain extent (I'm a working stiff too) while I am in the UK, I am 6 months or more each year in Thailand. Why don't you volunteer your services BB?, I am sure you would do an excellent job

Cheers John, I would be more than happy to become more involved in the forum, and do a bit of moderating, but I for one would not like to commit myself to any certain degree.

Trying to work 50 odd hours a week, juggle things to accomodate the wife and 3 young kids, run a very small part time business, and also a senior moderater on another (non thai) related uk based forum (but it helps pay our air fares back every once in a while ;) ), so my time will be a little limited..to say the least, but I do make it online every day, be it for 5 mins or 5 hours, I'm sure I'll manage .

There are a number of guys on here that would all qualify in different ways to moderate their own section, and are a lot more local than me, but if it's round the clock cover that's needed then I would be more than happy to help keep things ticking along smoothly after hours, so to speak .

So Lee if you need another little helper, then give me a shout, as long as Jeab agrees then I'll be happy to.

And like you mentioned in another thread tonight, John, you are correct, this forum does seem to have become a little more volatile over the past couple of weeks.

Again, congrats to Yorkman. Based on his past posts, he will do a great job as Moderator.

Additional moderators needed? I nominate Paul who has been a pillar of good sense, intelligence and humor in this and the old forum. I also believe that BangkokButcher, Jimbo (where is he when we need him?) and Ray would also be excellent choices. :D

I agree, Bangkokbutcher, Jimbo, Paul and Jimbo would be excellent choices and they are more than welcome to join the team as moderators.

It's nothing serious at this stage but if you happen to see the odd inappropriate post slip through then you have access to delete or edit it.

Regards, Lee

I do believe that Jimbo is still in Thailand, I think, last thing I recall him saying was something about heading up to the frozen north after the 3rd December :?

Jimbo has just returned to the Isle of Man tonight from Thailand after a rather eventful journey including two emergency landings.

The first was at Baku, Azerbaijan where after landing we were parked on a taxiway and kept on the aircraft for eight hours until engineers could be flown in to fix the problems - from boarding to leaving the aircraft was twenty one hours :(

The second was at Manchester, England where we experienced problems shortly after take off and had to return to change aircraft.

A trip that has now left me in a rather thoughtful and reflective mood.

Which is why I always go Thai Airways (well, usually). Its Heathrow which is a pain for me, older 747, so poor inflight "entertainment" (but I sleep anyway) Never in lots of trips had a hitch. Despite the usually slightly higher price than the "stop over in the middle east or the I can fly you cheaper, there are reasons for this" brigade, its worth it for less hassle, to me anyway.

Unfortunately I booked too late for the next trip in on the 23rd. So its BA. Gawd..... terminal and cabin staff with a bad attitude if things go slightly wrong (which they will), Terminal 4, and a long walk from the allocated aircraft stand in BKK. Worlds favourite airline they say on advertisements

BA? My last trip with them was delayed on the tarmac at Bangkok by 2 hours. Apparently they couldn't get the cargo door shut. The capt declared the duty free open, so I ordered a G&T, and another , and another, at this a 'lovely 'English stewardess stormed over with a box of 12 minitures, banged them down in front of me and walked triumphantly off, head held high. You've all seen the expression, as only an English lady can do! I waited till she got back to her resting place, then rang the bell again. The look when I asked, in all innocence for "Some tonics , please"Fortunately they got the door fixed soon after!!

I can well imagine the stewardess stomping off with her head held high!!

I prefer EVA to Thai, but unfortunately they don't fly every day, only about 3 times a week, so they get booked up a long way in advance and it is very difficult if you want to change the date of your return flight.. Their leg room is excellent, particularly their Evergreen deluxe class, which puts you up in the nose cone of the 747.

I've never flown BA to Bangkok, how does their legroom compare with Thai's?

thanks for your vote of confidence :)

I have the advantage of being in Udon - and moreso living in the city centre (behid the university) - however I am not sure what it entails and if Lee would care to pm me and let me know then of course I will consider it.

To be honest I tend to look at the Open Forum most - as i try to keep the monthly meetings going (even though its a struggle at times) and that is where the information about monthly meetings is. However that open forum is a large subject matter.

The what to see in and around Udon would be ok for someone living here too - but its a relatively quiet forum and would get boring due to the few posts in there.

I will await Lees response.

Regards
Paul
