Not about fungi but I notice Khun Parrot mentions Vick . Is that the vapour rub? I've never seen that in Thailand and I prefer that to the Thai Tiger Balm. Where can I get it please? Also the lozenges if seen.

Ageing is a privilige denied to many .

Hi JSJ! I took Lamisil back in the US several years ago and it worked, but it was very expensive and the toenail infection returned when I moved to Thailand. The Itraconazole worked wonders and within 3-4 months I had brand new perfect toenails and I've never had a problem since. I think that was two years ago. The meds are very inexpensive and there are two dosing methods. My doctor advised me to do the one week and skip three weeks method. Read this website: http://www.rxlist.com/sporanox-drug/ind ... dosage.htm

Treatment of Onychomycosis

Toenails with or without fingernail involvement: The recommended dose is 200 mg (2 capsules) once daily for 12 consecutive weeks.

Treatment of Onychomycosis

Fingernails only: The recommended dosing regimen is 2 treatment pulses, each consisting of 200 mg (2 capsules) b.i.d. (400 mg/day) for 1 week. The pulses are separated by a 3-week period without SPORANOX® (itraconazole capsules) .

Make sure that you do a drug interaction check if you are taking other drugs. Use this website for that: http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html

The pharmacies have imported brand names which are very expensive, but I used the much lesser expensive locally made meds and they worked great. Hope this helps!

I bought my Itraconazole at a wholesale pharmacy in Nong Bua market just east of the UD Town McDonalds near the Nittayo Road and Nong Bua Road red light. The name of the medicine is Itra-Med by CMED Products and comes in a 10 capsule packet 100 mg each. A map is attached here for the pharmacy location.

Cure for Toenail Fungus?

Post by Arosolius » July 13, 2014, 9:47 am

I had two bouts of black toenail fungus 18 months apart and only on the big toes. It was never painful.
Got rid of it both times with vinegar but it took about 3-4 months each time. I used to soak my feet in vinegar and warm water but gave that up and, instead, used to get a piece of cotton wool, soak it vinegar and squeeze it out under the nails.
Now I do it a couple of times a week in the hope that I'll kill the fungus early in case it's starting over again.

Mudguard wrote:Would you beleive that LISTERINE will clear-up toe nail infection. Yes, LISTERINE one buye from the chemist. Just put it on with a cotton bud and after a couple of weeks you will see new nail growing and pushing the fungus out as it grows. You may have to do it over 2-4 treatments but, it most certainly works. I had tried all expensive liquids from the chemist but would never clear it up. Cheers Mudguard.
Absolutely, listerine works well for a lot of people. The added benefit that it's free. http://www.yellowtoenailscured.com/list ... il-fungus/

The best way to cure toenail fungus naturally is the following:

Acidophilis Beer Soak:

1. Buy dark beer, white vinegar, sachets of acidophilis (or powdered 50 billion organisms)
2. Get a tub big enough for the treatment area (cat boxes are good - new ones please!)
3. Add 1 liter of room temperature dark beer, 1 liter of white vinegar, 50 billion acidophilis bacteria.
4. Soak feet in this solution for 20 minutes before turning in at night.
5. Get big container and pour all solution into it and put into refridgerator. This saves you money as you can resuse it.
6. Repeat using the same solution but add just enough hot water to make the solution warm.
7. Every 3rd time, add another 50 billion organisms to the solution.
8. Do this daily for 30 days or until you see normal healthy toenail growth appearing.

If you add urea paste to the nail during the day and soak your toes in the solution at night, the tinea unguinum will likely go away faster. You may also repeat the soaking in solution two times a day.

vicks vapor rub will not work as you have found out. The above remedy works really well. If you have a thick nail of about 1/4" and it's curling up, you may have to have it surgically removed. Nail fungus is very tough. You have to be diligent, but if you are and follow the above procedure, you will be successful.
