Current Situation - No political debate PLEASE

Postby Bandung_Dero » May 21, 2010, 10:36 am

Being out in the sticks it would be nice to get updates as to the situation in Udon without the politics.

Are any of the major shopping centers open today, Tesco Makro Big C etc.

I'm hearing conflicting reports as to curfew hours. Are they actually being adhered to in Udon. Very slack in ban Dung.

Went shopping at Tesco (old) yesterday and was surprised how quite it was, devoid of both Farang and Thai. There were more Farang shopping at Tool Pro! In 9+ years I've never seen it like that before.

Is it like that all over Udon?

On Friday there was another bombing in Bangkok. Several people injured. The government is quite concerned and think this problem will escalate. It is very sad that innocent people are getting hurt and killed like this. My gf was in Bangkok yesterday getting her visa and flying to Canada today. I told her stay off the streets as much as possible. Anyone could be hurt like this.

yup, two bombings and 4-6 weeks ago the Wile E. Coyote fruit cart bombing with the perpetrator looking like a burnt match.. Not to minmize these obviously terroristic bombings but Bangkok has years of bombings, grenade attacks, assassination attempts and other unsavory acts.. The people seem to forget them quite quickly.... Contrast these varous bombings with the steady non-stop violence in southern Thailand. Rarely a day goes by without something happening down there...
