Piemash,
S&P Bakery do a fair "sausage rolls" (flaky pastry), decent variety of different breads (their small garlic rolls are as good as anything I have tried anywhere) & a very nice (if a little small) curry chicken flaky pastry pie - although it is shaped more like a small Cornish pasty (without the surrounding crust).
The are in the lower floor of Big C complex & Tesco- Lotus.
As far as traditional pies (with mash if required) then you will probably not beat The Irish Clock. They also do an excellent Steak & Kidney Pudding, but I know suet pastry isn't to everybody's' choice.
The chef at City Lodge (no longer there) used to make his own pies & I know he is doing some cooking for "A Beer to Far" but I am not sure if his pies are on the menu there.

AH OK, understand.
You could go & chat to Steve at The Clock, I am sure that he would sell you uncooked/frozen pies to take away. Not how he gains his income, but I know that he has sold other stuff in that past for people to take home and cook at their leisure.
You could try TANG NGEE SOON SUPERSTORE as they sell frozen pies. I have never tried & reviews on this site were VERY mixed about them, so if you decide to then I certainly would not recommend bulk buying until after you tried.
They also sell imported frozen beef. T-Bones, but again I have not tried as they are cut far to thin for my liking. I can HIGHLY recommend their frozen sausages & bacon though.
As for beef, well good luck. I am told that the Thai-French butcher sell good beef, but, again, I have never tried. Any beef I have bought in Udon is fine in a stew or boiled but I wouldn't attempt to fry, grill or barbecue it unless I was looking at resoling some shoes !!! :(

I think my slits are too thin (ekue me) in the toaster... I like that S&P English bread but have to hammer it into the toaster. Makes a nice sandwich.

Incidentally S & P have opened up a new shop on the ground floor of the Charoensri Complex so thats as well as the Tesco/Big C outlets.
A reasonable sized place selling cakes, bread, sandwiches etc......think you can sit in as well.
Quite often at the Tesco branch I get a sandwich for about 45 baht.....cant compare with our good old
M & S sandwiches back in the UK,but not bad.

Reading this, I'd say there is a gap in the market for a western style butcher shop in Udon.
Selling steak that you can comfortably eat if have false teeth, and pies that are not revolting.

Prenders, I repeat this again here for those with false teeth under us: try TOPS tender loin, 325B/kilo, just make sure you get the real thing, sometimes they try to sell me a flat meat which ain't tenderloin in my book.

Contact Andy, (usually at A Bridge too far in the afternoons) I am sure he will fill an order for pies and supply them frozen.
