Don't suppose it may be time

Postby Bump » August 31, 2006, 4:32 pm

Don't suppose it might be time to wake up and except the reality. There is no one who hates what is happening in Iraq and the various other locations within the world then me. I believe we are very quick to blame countries like America, Britan and Thailand for these things, but I doubt that is the common factor of these thing happening all over the world. I don't think any particular country is at fault, lets face the victims in Iraq are the citizen there.

What is the common factor not all muslims that is for sure, but a small group who guess what don't care if the American are out of Iraq they want them out of America and every other place in the world. One huge power control of the entire world. Can they do this, sure they can if we choose to back away from the truth and appease them.

You know we are so critical of those who stand up to it, it is way past funny. So this time I'm going to say it, it's not Thailands fault.

23 Yala banks hit by bomb blasts

YALA: --- Muslim militants launched 23 coordinated time bomb attacks at commercial banks in this southern province Thursday, killing at least one man and severely injuring at least four bank customers, police said.

The bombs, mostly left on bank counters and some in ATM booths at the banks, were detonated mostly by clocks between 11:30 to 11:35 am. Twenty six people suffered minor injuries.

Police said militants dressed in student uniformed carried bombs hidden in folders, books and plastic banks and left them on counters where customers wrote bank slips.

The attacks prompted all banks in the province to close its business for a day and at least five schools decided to close and released students home.

The attacks were carried out in five districts - 11 in Muang, six in Betong, 2 in Yaha, 2 in Bannang Sata and 2 in Raman.

Police said most of the injured were those who came in to draw cash from ATM machines.

Most of the bombs were hidden in thick books, which pages carved out or in women handbags.

The killed was identified as Major Sanuchart Srithong, a retired army officer.

Police sources said two Muslim youths have been arrested after police checked tape from security cameras of ATM booths and saw them planting the bombs.

In Muang district, 11 banks were attacked. They were Government Savings Bank (GSB), Bank of Ayudhya (BAY), Krungthai Bank (KTB), two branches of Islamic Bank, Kasikorn Thai Bank, Siam City Bank (SCIB), Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Thai Military Bank and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB).

In Betong, the BAAC branch, SCB branch, Kasikorn Thai branch, GSB branch and KTB branch were attacked. Another bomb was defused in time at the Bangkok Bank.

In Yaha, the GSB branch and BAAC branch were attacked.

In Bannang Sata, the KTB and BAAC branches were attacked.

In Raman, the KTB and BAAC branches were hit by the bombs.

A source from the Siam City Bank in Yala downtown said an official received a phone call, saying a bomb had been planted near the manager's room.

The caller told the bank to evacuate its employees immediately but the bomb exploded shortly after the phone was hung up.

A bank official was injured on his arm and bank customers ran for their life after the explosion, the source said.

Sources from security agencies said they have received a tip-off that the militants would launch coordinated attacks in a few days but they expected the attacks would be carried out on Friday.

Somsak Thisarn, the manager of SCB Yala branch, said the Yala Banker Association resolved to have all banks in Yala closed for a day.

Sanya Suwanpho, chairman of the Yala Teachers Federation, said some schools decided to close for fear that militants would shift attacks to schools after the banks.

He said parents and teachers had learnt that the militants would launch attacks on August 31 to mark the formation of the Bersatu terrorist umbrella group.

Lt Gen Ongkorn Thongprasom, commander of the Fourth Army Area, said all army forces in Yala had been deployed to control the situation shortly after the attacks

No suicide bombers yet Ray!I think they could get a handle on it here, if the Gov't would think of its citizens in the South as equals and not try to stuff a unwanted religion down their throats!

Yes ,I believe that a small seperatists are using the Gov'ts actions against its Muslim citizens to further their aims at forming their own country. In this one,I think the Thailand gov't is as much to blame as the seperatists !

This is a negotiable situation, but IMO,not for long!

I would like to to see the Gov't initiate programs of respect for the Muslim beliefs, language and culture.Put in place instituitions and infrastructure supported of the desires of its Thai citizens of the area.Take responsibilty for the deaths of protestors that died from suffocation,by prosecuting all those responsible!

IMO,any support for the insurgents would fade quickly and support for the army would increase to rid the area of the terror and fear so prevalent now!

I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for the Thai gov't to do the right thing!

Can you imagine a Thai from TRT party at the helm of the UN?

Ok I would agree that giving respect to people never hurt, but I just don't see this as a Thailand problem. My entire point is this is a world wide problem, we see faction of it here, there is another in the P.I. Malayasia has it's problems and it is Muslim.

The way I see what is happening you are infidel and this isn't going to stop until there are no more infidels. I just don't believe the average muslim in the world is behind what we see happening year after year.

It is a group of very fanatical people, who have very strong beliefs in what they are doing. If that have to kill off the infidels thats a good thing. If we have to kill our fellow muslims thats OK.

Wonder how many people injuried there today were muslim willing to bet there are some. I just don't see this a problem of geography, I think it goes much deeper then that.

Don't know what the answers are, wished I did. But, I do intend to quick thinking that people of any country deserve to be injuried and killed and the name of a fanatical groups ideal of a perfect world. What countries have not been affected by this in some way.

So I think have came to the conclusion that this time the bad guy wears the black hat and the rest of us wear grey ones.

I honestly believe the world will have to come together on this or we need to learn the direction where Mecca is.

You might notice I don't talk about politics much, but to me this is far beyond politics to many people are dying eveyday. Probably more Muslim then anyone else.

:) Ray,we are in agreement about a world problem relating to the Muslim extremists and their ''stated''goals,''rid the world of the ''infidels'' :!: Where we may differ is that ,I believe that the majority of muslims do not believe that killing everyone that is not Muslim,is the way Allah wants or intends the conversion to happen!

The are varying degrees extremists within the Muslim community. Those that belief in martyrdom by suicide killing are the ''worry''!That has not happened in the Southern ''problem. So I am speculating that there is a lesser extremist faction operating in Thailand, focused primarily on seperatism, not religious martyrdom!

This is not ,YET,a non-negotiable situation like the Middle East. This is,in a sense, the early stages of uncorrected injustice to a people that could lead to the same kind of situation as the Middle East.If the Gov't continues their current policies, resentment, indoctrination through fear based applications ,increased recruitment and the attention/ support of the Middle East extremists will be the result!

I fear that the ''face'' issue is to great in this country to allow the humilty that it would take to correct the situation!

I look at it like this:The people of the South are not happy about the violence that prevails now!Yes, they would probably vote for seperation ,if they had that choice! Not because they don't want to be a part of Thailand, but because the majority are Malays,Muslims and are dictated to speak, believe as Thai buddhists by a gov't that has shown no concern for them except at election time!

The gov't should allow a referendum on what the people there want to not support seperatism, allowing them the dignity to worship and speak their own language freely as Thai citizens. They are only creating a bigger radical base with their suppression of basic human rights!

Actually sounds like we are in agreement, just hope your right about the south and it doesn't esclate even further. In reading the article sound like the Thai's had the intelligence that something was going to happen today, my guess is that intelligence is coming from the Muslim's in the south. The truth is if anyone should be fed up with type of activity it should be them since they are paying the highest price.

Just an aside I don't the spelling but I wil try Nosterdamos. one can find some things similar to his prediction in this, the only question left who is the bad guy guess that depends on what side of the fence your on.

My biggest fear this is not going to stop and it will become a full blown world war. Seems like somebody is always pushing the buttons, of the other guy. Sooner or later someone is going to push it to the limit and all heck is going to break loose.

The same is true of one island in the P.I. Mindano as I recall, strictly a muslim Island, but there you also have the NPA, that gorup has been active since World War two.

My ex was from Leyte and after sun down the NPA owned the villages and country side outside of the major cities. My inlaws woul let me wonder all ove the place in the day time but wuld not allow out of the house after dark, They were afraid I would be killed or kidnapped. This was about 20 years ago and I did see them wondering around with AK's

Political/Relgious grievance and in time your have autocrats

Postby FrazeeDK » August 31, 2006, 9:17 pm

In macro terms look the world over.. Although throughout the world you have a plethora of "liberation movements", most today are ossified with the same person or group in charge that started the organization.
It seems most of these movements began with legitimate grievances and over the years developed a power base within their countries that is predicated on using violence, criminality, and killing to maintain the power of their ruling cliques..

for instance:

PLO; Need I say more?? Arafat was nothing more than a pistol packing hoodlum too willing to kill anybody or do anyting to maintain his personal power...

IRA; legitimate beginning, degenerated into basically a mafia controllling drugs prostitution, graft, crime and snuffing out anybody who disagreed.

LTTE; same-o in Sri Lanka.. Look at the Tigers today.. Child suicice soldiers, and a dictatorial leader who will wack anybody in his group that disagrees.

Abu Sayyaf in the Phillipines; murder, mayhem, robbery and kidnapping to support their "policital aims".. Just another group of n'eer do wells waving weapons that have degenerated into criminals.

the Nepalese Maoists; Control freaks who again will eradicate any dissent within their ranks.

ETA in Spain; Finally toning down their years of bombings in response to the basic negative response from the people. But think of it.. decades of murderous bombings for what?? To assuage the egos of a small cadres of "leaders' who started it and don't want to give up their power of death and destruction.

PKK in Turkey; entrenched with legitimage complaints against the Turkish government but again, the leadership needs violence and death to control their followers.

Sendero Luminoso in Peru;; Even after the arrest of Guzman, the geoup cannot stop killing.. It's original beef with the government is forgotten as they settle scores and continue killing..

It starts with simple political and societal aims.. The group doesn't get the response it wants so turns to armed revolution. Over time the violence that was first used to further goals becomes the raison d'etre to maintain the leadership of the group's hold over their minions. Historically, it hasn't changed much.. Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Franco, Mao, all muredered millions to maintain their power. Make a scapegoat, be it Jews, capitalists, blacks, you name it, the Power Mad will do it.. Whether Milosevic and Karadzic in the Balkans or the Muslim autocratic Imams in Lebanon, Iraq (Al Sadr), or the former Taliban or Al Qaida.. Violence and the power of death keep the leaders of those groups in power..

How to deal with it?? Hey, I'm not a military strategist, brilliant sociologist or religious prosletyzer.. I'd say, governments need to look with open eyes at the legitimate gripes of their citizenz and address them..
The World's governments (UN Ha!) need to stop looking at shite countries like N. Korea, Syria, et al with moral relativism and call, a dog a dog.. What should the world do to "rogue" nations.. Turn them out? Cut them off? Regime change?? I don't know... But, if we all want to talk the good line, and be humanistic, isn't it only right that the countries that are indeed the worst violators of human rights should be dealt with harshly and quickly??
Look at Burma.. Years of minor sanctions, the ASEAN "can't we just get along" non-interventionist way of poltics.. Has the scum junta in Burma changed at all.. No, it's only gotten worse and the world just looks on..
The "free" nations of the world need to start fixing things as best they can.. If they don't get on the stick, then sad to say, the worst case scenario is wholescale religious conflict..

So how does this fit into the "Thai South" string..?? Surely, there is a clique of Muslim leaders in the south providing some type of central direction for the attacks.. Too organized, to sophisticated to be small independent cells. If the leadership hasn't devleoped into autocrats by now, you can be sure that within a few years there reaon for being will not be a deisre for a "free" Pattani but to maintain their ability to maim, murder and cause mayhem..

Perhaps it will all end when the women get thoroughly fed up with the situation and go for the Lysistrata solution.
