Drinking Water

We use our Pure ceramic/charcoal filter for our deep well as an insurance policy. We've had our water tested and it's 'drink safe' according to the official lab out by Noongsung. We pump our well water into a large 2000liter holding tank under the house and use a separate house pump to pump the water from the tank into the house. Once a year, I inspect the tank......the first two or three years there was a small amount of fine sand in the bottom of the tank.....but as the years go by, there's almost none.
We only use our Pure system for drinking water.

Me personally, I've looked at the Thai water filter systems......I'm not a fan. I prefer the ceramic block (o.3 micron or better) nd solid charcoal block system.

Drinking Water

Postby Ray.Charles » October 5, 2011, 8:59 pm

My village is supplied by water from a nearby lake, not big and probably not deep. The water looks clear enough now, but in dry season it looks cloudy. In our home, first this water goes through an in-line sediment filter, and then it goes through the contraption pictured in Lee’s post. The fat silver colored barrel contains granular carbon and manganese, the smaller black barrel contains carbon block. By then the water pressure is comatose, but just enough to trickle into a ground level holding tank. The holding tank is connected to the house (2-story) plumbing though a constant pressure pump. At the kitchen this water finally goes through a PURE filter with UV before becoming our drinking water.
