e-mail problems

Postby stattointhailand » September 4, 2010, 10:57 am

Is anyone else having any problems with Yahoo e-mail.
Yesterday morning everything was OK, but when I tried to access my mail folder yesterday evening (and again this morning) it just "times out" and says re try later. Everything else (including the Yahoo pages) are OK, it's only the e-mail access that is failing. Anyone got any ideas?

Has happen to me several times in the last couple of days, usually in the evening. What's weird is that I have two email accounts, one opens without any problems after logging in and the other account times out. When it times out I don't click on retry, just close the window and start over again, might have to it a few times, but I eventually get in.

This is over 20hrs now and I've tried everything I know (not a lot !!). I can get into "My Yahoo" and even see the preview panes for the e-mails, but as soon as I click on Read/Reply, it "times out". Even tried to access it via IE and that gives the same results as I'm getting with Firefox.

Thanks for trying guys ........ it's beginning to drive me crazy (more than normal !!)
Ray, if you go into My Yahoo, and then hold the curser over a particular e-mail, it will give you a window which shows the first few lines of the e-mail, and gives you the option to read/reply. Unfortunately it won't let me do either, in the same way as when I click on the "mail (9+)" icon it just times out.

Statto, it sounds like you're using the "new improved" Yahoo email format. Actually it came out at least two years ago. When I switched to it I got the same thing you are getting. No matter how long I waited it just timed out and I couldn't read the emails. So I switched back to the old one, they call it "classic", and it has worked fine ever since. I don't know if you can still do that, it should be under options. It's worth a try. Good Luck

I have the same Yahoo Classic as Jimbo. That's why I didn't understand about the 'read/reply' button. I vaguely recall that I was 'upgraded' once, didn'tike it, went back to the Classic. I can only click on a message to open and then I will see a Reply button. Statto, I would think that at the top of your screen you have a choice of My Yahoo or Yahoo. Click on the Yahoo and that may take care of your problem. Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas guys.
I was in Yahoo mail classic when I switched off yesterday morning, and assume I should still be in "Classic". I can't get into any Yahoo mail to find out. Up until an hour or so ago I could see the mails in my inbox (but not access them) by using my yahoo and looking at "mail" in my personal assistant, then that started showing that I couldn't access my inbox, but now it's showing a preview pane again, so I know who they are from and the first few lines of the mail but nothing else. If I couldn't access anything, I could get my head round it, but to know that they are there, and that I can see them, but still not be able to do anything.
I can't access any screen with an "options" tab to alter.

Don't know if it's of any significance, but, when I open yahoo, I have always had a Thai flag and Y Thailand in the top left hand corner. Today I've got an Aussie flag and Y Australia !!

Sounds like you could be in Yahoo7,statto.
On the home page for me in Yahoo7 it shows the address as www.yahoo.com.au and my location as Sydney where it kindly gives me the local weather report....wet and windy over there tomorrow,so dont bother going on a day trip.
But it does give you the option to change the location which might help you.
My Yahoo Mail page is working normally in Yahoo Classic.I dont know where the Yahoo7 has come from but our son has been on the PC for a few hours today,so I'm blaming him !
But going off track for this thread just for a moment.....I'm having problems getting into the BBC website today....anyone else encountered the same ?......I remember having similar last year for a couple of months.
Back on track now..........I hope its not too long before you can open and read your many e-mails from Thai Lovelinks, statto !! 8)

I also remember having issues with the new yh mail system & having to go to Classic to log in...but it is not my main e-mail address so I have not been in for a week or so..
No probs with BBC Zid. but I do always go at it via
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/default.stm
& just have, so I do not know if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your help guys.

As we all know computers are very logical things, so I'm not suprised that when I logged in this morning my e- mail box (classic) was sitting there waiting

After spending 36 hrs trying just about everything and failing, it comes back all on its own (just like a lost puppy!!).

On a more serious note, I am now wondering what or who has been "blocking" my access for the last 36hrs

If and when it happens again, you might like to try to access your mail from a different computer to help isolate the source of the problem.
