Electricity line social problems

Postby parrot » November 18, 2011, 7:22 pm

"The following makes me so angry and is potentially one of the reasons why I might leave Thailand."

If the tree incident was enough to make you even think about leaving the country, I'd suggest you keep a suitcase handy. If the tree on the electric line wasn't enough, the noise, neighbor burning plastic, sporadic water/electricity/telephone outages, immigration officials, unreliable exchange rate, jacked up prices on western food, dual-pricing system, driver mania, multiple police stops, roaming dogs or cats or education system (if you have kids) will drive you batty. And God help you if you live in a low water area next time the skies open up for an extended period of time!
Assuming you weren't renditioned here under the Bush government (okay okay, that's a joke), make the most of your life here in Thailand. It's actually quite a pleasant place to live!

Electricity line social problems

Parrot, you forgot the roaming cows with their downward pointing ears! We are building a house and I forgot to put the wire back up on wall couple days ago. Went back at end of day and 12 cows were helping themselves to some chow and nine of them left me a little present. No problem, I was born on a dairy farm but village life ain't for everyone. Oh, almost forgot, don't forget the water buffs.
Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast, hit 'em with the one they don't expect, and just keep hitting.

Parrot, I know what you’re saying and I have shown enough resilience by living here for quite a long time. I carved out a niche here where I can function and enjoy the life, including all the issues you mention.

This one got me because to me it’s unbelievably stupid to not react if you see something going wrong. And it’s even more stupid that I am not supposed to warn somebody, especially if you’re affected.

Anyway, it’s over now, but I can’t help getting upset now and then..

@Tracechain : that is the reason we build a wall around the house, keeping cows, buffalo’s and dogs out. Didn’t help against snakes, squirrels and cats though.
