I thought, bit typical Daily Mail 'over the top' reporting Galee.. :D
But then the news agency were all carrying a similar report.

I couldn't remember reading anything about two elephants being killed but maybe it was only a little piece, easily missed, so I went on a bit of an Internet hunt.

This turned up & it seems that there could a lot more to the story if this report is to be believed..

Looks like there are serious issues at the park, but probably the killings have zero to do with the eating of elephant meat in Phuket, or anywhere else in Thailand...

Still think that warning about 'elephant extinction' is more than a bit over the top though... :D :D

Most probably a story from a news agency or self employed "stringer".

Animal stories are always get a reaction from the Daily Mail readership, anything to do with dog, cats, and now elephants ending up on the dinner plate causes a reaction.

I remember the late June Southworth exposed the Thai dog meat trade to a horrified British public, at great risk to her self and the staff photographer. Must be nearly 20 years ago.

Most poachers take the tusks and leave the carcass to the vultures, lions, hyenas, insects, bushmen and now the Thais. A bit like, and no worse, than the east europeans poaching swans for there dinner in London.

OT............. \:D/
