ENGLAND V HOLLAND - Football

Postby APLESS ARRY » August 13, 2009, 6:08 pm

Hi, anybody watch the footie? Is Ferdinand the Best central defender this country can find only last night yet again he was crap.Too slow ,trying to look cool and takes far too long deciding what to do once hes got the ball and usually just offloads to the nearest person he can, just the same when he plays for Man U.Any suggestions? If good maybe we could pass them on to Fabio and Fergie.

I believe that Ferdinand is flattered by playing next to Vidic when playing for United.
Vidic is, without doubt, the best central defender playing in the Premiership. Fergie does not need to worry over much as he has Jonny Evans waiting in the background.
Terry used to be the best central defender playing in the Premiership & as such, used to protect Ferdinand when playing for England. That is no longer the case & while Terry is undoubtedly still a good defender he is not as good as he was a couple of seasons ago. However I don't think Fabio is too concerned either - he has Carragher sitting in the background. He has probably been the best English central defender for the last couple of seasons & should feel disappointed he has not been an England regular...

I may be wrong, but I think Carragher has made himself unavailable for England matches.

Indeed you are correct,Galee.
Jamie Carragher retired from International football in 2007,frustrated at not being able to claim a regular England spot.
Ironic,as now,he could well be playing instead of Ferdinand and also a better bet than the likes of Lescott and Upson,I reckon.
