Martysnowman, if you read the forum comments properly throughout you will see that it is not me that is suggesting that any or many Ferrangs are criminals, or implying that it is only criminals that get scammed here. So really when your telling people to wind their necks in you should really address your posts to Bob Helm. The time which I have been on your forum is also irrelevant since I have lived in Thailand in Udon, not Pattaya as you suggest, for many years, and feel that I am as well qualified as you to be able to post comments here. You can see from reading this topics history that what I have had to say on here, has been supported by the comments of many long standing Udonmap forum members too. So if you don't like what I have to say then that's just too bad.

I hate scammers, not all Thai people Martysnowman, I am married to a Thai lady, and have many Thai friends. I am at home, I live here. Thailand is my home. So sadly I wont be going anywhere. If you don't like it when I respond to comments which appear to be defending scamming, then I suggest politely that you simply read an alternative topic in the forums, or don't read what I have to say. I have not told you to "go home" which is very rude, and how do you know that it would make everybody happy ? If you don't value my contribution to this forum, then why don't you just ban me from it ? Maybe you need to learn to become more tolerant of others points of view, even if they differ to your own.

This is the one (above) that irritated me upon reading it. Days later, I still find it offensive in terms of what you imply.mightyvan wrote:Well XXXXX Name Redacted XXXX I will give you my advice, a health warning, which definitely is not contained on any cigarette packets. If I was you I certainly wouldn't continue to be as rude as you are to others, and I certainly wouldn't contemplate saying it to their faces either. I find that rude and offensive people always come unstuck one day, and if you go on spouting off like you do then one day you will say it to a far nastier person than myself and unfortunately it will not be pleasant. I have seen this happen so many times to your type.
As suggested by others, your opinion is one thing, but in your personal attacks, you are taking it too far.
Please refrain from any further "calling out" of members you previously debated.
The statement above was followed by at least 1 more instance of this name dropping.
It's well understood debates get overheated from time to time. Time for this one to cool down some.So really when your telling people to wind their necks in you should really address your posts to XXXX Name Redacted XXXXX.

Hi Martyn, Thank you very much for your nicely worded, and kind message, and I want to assure you that I don't bare you or anyone on here any malice. I know that at times this debate has got quite heated and that everyone has strong and different opinions, which I do respect. I am sorry that I cannot send you this response via a private message, as I have not been a member long enough to have that functionality. I am not a drinker, but I appreciate your kind invite to join you for a beer. I will let you know when I am next in Udon City. Best regards, Mightyvan

redwolf, I was cross at the time that was written because my friend was called greedy, and labelled as dishonest by an earlier post. My friend is not a dishonest person, and had been misled by the shop at Laos selling the cigarettes as to the quantity he could bring back, as explained in my original post. In the calm light of day now I can understand why you find my comments offensive too, and I should not have retaliated with further personal attacks, as I appreciate that this does not benefit the forum. I can be a man here, and therefore I apologize for my remarks to you and to xxxxxxx and I will refrain from name dropping.

"EMAIL OF THE WEEK - Smuggling doesn't pay.
When I flew in to Suvarnabhumi Airport in early December I was stopped by a policeman after clearing Immigration and Customs and asked if I had brought in any alcohol or cigarettes. I had a gift set of 150 ml of spirits and told him so and offered to open my backpack to show him. As I was about to do so he said he believed me and let me go to continue my travels. However, in the queue when leaving Bangkok I mentioned this to a fellow countryman and he told me his tale on entry. He had bought 9 x 200 cigarettes in Dubai for his friends in Thailand and was collared on arrival by Customs at Suvarnabhumi. Since he was not in their system as a known smuggler he was given the minimum fine (he showed me the stamped paperwork), 43,065 baht! Needless to say his passport is now flagged each time on entry."

I hope Stick won't mind me cutting and pasting.

steve if you look at my link on page 1 of this thread, you can see that 4+ years ago (2009), the fine was TBH3500+/carton.
So it is no surprise that it is now 4800+.
ps I can't imagine Stickman would be concerned about referrals to his site. There must be very few readers these days - which may explain why (on my very brief reading) it seemed dominated by stories and photos of bars/bargirls.

I believe the limit is one litre of wine. However, I have been stopped to check for cigarettes and spirits, and they could clearly see the 4 litre wine box, and they ignored it. However, next time, who knows?thighlander wrote: ↑November 25, 2017, 9:04 pmI carried a box of wine for a guy one time, in exchange for a ride to UTH. must have been a few liters.....but I actually thought the limit was 1 liter period.
