Funny,I never had you down as a Spurs supporter,Bob ! 8)
Even if Howard Webb referees the game,I think United could be in for another tonking at the Etihad Stadium !
But Everton have a reasonable chance of progressing.......

FA Cup 2012 Season

Well the FA Cup snuck one past me last night!! :D
Friday, 6 January 2012 The FA Cup with Budweiser
Liverpool 5-1 Oldham

Oldham actually went into the lead just before half an hour played. It was the last thoughts of giant killing that their fans had during the night though. Bellamy equalised within a couple of minutes & then Gerrard was rather gifted the chance to put Pool up just before the break with a rather silly penalty. All Pool in the second half, but 2 very late goals rather gave the game a look of easy that the players didn't feel.
Pool will just be happy to get what could have been rather a difficult game out of the way. Also happy that 5 different players found out where the net was, as top scorer Luis Suarez takes a break..

The majority of games take place today, with most kicking off at 3pm. but earlier & later times also included.

Some potential upsets today with Wolves,Blackpool,QPR,Wigan and Aston Villa looking a bit vulnerable......but your team,Spurs, should be OK Bob ! 8)
Of course the biggest upset could take place at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow (Sunday) if Manchester United manage to overcome Manchester City, kick off is 8pm Thai time.

Cheltenham are doing well this year, 2nd. in League 2 & on a fairly good run, 9 since a loss. At Whaddon Road it could well have been tricky for Spurs, as I imagine it will not be top 11 men time for Harry.
At WHL just have to be happy for the experience though & then get on with the league next week..
The only bigger shock to me than a Cheltenham win would be a United one tomorrow though!!
Unless Citi don't bother putting out 11 men there is only going to be one result, whoever officiates!!

Usually a few shocks at this time of the draw...can't even see managerless Rovers undoing stodgy Villa with home advantage though!! :D

My local team is Macclesfield. When the draw was made a few weeks ago this looked like a potential upset with Bolton really struggling in the Premiership.
But since then Bolton have improved and Macc have had a terrible time with injuries.....they will be missing six first team regulars today and were beaten 4-0 at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.
So I cant really see a surprise as I think Bolton will be up for a good cup run to rescue their season but the BBC'S Mark Lawrenson will be there so that might be an omen !......"tha never knows."

So only a couple of big shocks so far with Swindon beating Premiership Wigan and Everton just edging out Tamworth ! 8)
But good results for Stevenage and Notts County away to Championship sides whilst both Macclesfield and MK Dons gained creditable draws against Premiership sides Bolton and QPR respectively. =D>
Tonight can little Manchester United add to the giant killing by ousting their big spending rivals,Manchester City ? :-"

Sunday, 8 January 2012 The FA Cup with Budweiser
Man City 2-3 Man Utd |

& I was right & wrong.... :D
Unless Citi don't bother putting out 11 men there is only going to be one result, whoever officiates!!

Citi did put out 11 men, but Chris Foy reduced that after United had scored...
United a man & 3 goals up by half time.
Obviously changes for 10 men Citi at half time & they worked as they won the second half 2 nil.
Wasn't enough though...

Ref rather ruined it with the red card decision. However, I am sure that he was technically correct, just a pity to ruin a contest so early on...Maybe it didn't as, the goal apart, it had been all Citi & so, just maybe, the sending off provided a lively game....not that I think Citi fans will view it exactly that way...
Nearly as important is that Citi will probably now lose Kompany for 4 matches as it is his second red of the season. Already missing their African contingent & now the captain....well I guess that they do have a fair squad who pick up massive wages for not even playing!!!!

FA Cup 2012 Season

Postby BobHelm » January 9, 2012, 8:56 am

Sunday, 8 January 2012 The FA Cup with Budweiser
Chelsea 4-0 Portsmouth
Man City 2-3 Man Utd
Peterborough 0-2 Sunderland
Sheffield Wed 1-0 West Ham

With the exception of the early kick off, all just about went as expected.
Chelsea took their time against a resilient Portsmouth, but then flattered the result with a couple of late goals.
Sunderland came though what could have been a tricky tie away at much improved Peterborough.
The Hammers continue their current form away in Sheffield.

The draw for the next round...

FA Cup fourth round draw in full:

Brighton or Wrexham v Newcastle

Sunderland v Middlesbrough

Dagenham & Redbridge or Millwall v Southampton

Hull City v Crawley

MK Dons or QPR v Chelsea

West Brom v Norwich

Blackpool v Sheffield Wednesday

Arsenal or Leeds v Aston Villa

Stevenage v Notts County

Watford v Tottenham

Liverpool v Manchester United

Derby v Stoke

Everton v Fulham

Macclesfield Town or Bolton v Swansea

Sheffield United v Birmingham or Wolves

Nottingham Forest or Leicester v Swindon

Ties to take place on the weekend of 28/29 January.

Pool v United will undoubtedly be the media favourite, especially given current events between the two sides.
Looks like no easy route for United to the final this year, however, after the Citi match you would fancy them to beat anyone......with the right referee in charge... :D :D

A couple of derby matches which will be interesting. Chelsea seem to be getting decent draws in the Cup & you would fancy they will sail through this round, no matter which side they play...
