It is a phenomenon that occurs, , in polite english society, one ignores it and move quietly away, if the smell is bad, in USA one smiles , in Thailand wife laughs so do the kids, reasons for this, who knows I go for weeks then it happens for a few days then passes ( so to speak)
Yes farangs tend to pass wind more, but thais do too, just never quite so loud .

A fellow airman from my Hong Kong days use to carry a wad of bog roll and spare Y-fronts just in case he followed through while we were downtown. He'd had the Screaming Ab Dabs for about six months and could no longer trust his ability to control himself. Great days...
