Look around Mae Pim - good beaches, and some great seafood restaurants.

Another suggestion is Koh Chang - same as above, but maybe more expensive.

few days near the beach

My favorite Thai beaches in order, BangSaphan, two to three hours drive south of Hua Hin, can get there by bus or train, reasonable beach bungalow accomodation and a flash hotel, beautiful quiet white sand beach with offshore islands. Next would still be Raleigh beach and Ao Nang, Krabi getting a bit spoilt but the beach at raleigh is stunning. You could always explore around Trang which is good or where I live at Nai Yang on Phuket which still remains quiet and has Phukets best beach, good resturants on the beach and five minutes from the airport. Cheers.
