Pla Nin ( Talapia) are algae eaters.

My retaining wall in all honesty is probably over kill.

If your just doing a few fish I would just go with Lilly Plants. With just a few fish you don't need to do anything with pumping air in. Dirt ponds have a natural amount of oxygen. Keep in mind I'm putting 2000 Pla Nin. So I have to do things differently.

If you noticed the pictures of the cat fish pond that is muddy water local fish don't have problem with that. Lee add some fertilizer to your pond that promotes algae. That will clear some of the muddy water and provide food for some types of fish.

Gates everything is included in the 255 K Baht.

When we pumped the small pond they found about 12 good size fish, they had never done anything with it no feeding no nothing.

I would try a bit fertilizer and leave it a that lee. The water should clear with time. Guys I'm no expert, so my way may work it may not.

Lee this is what you are looking for remember how muddy that water looked when it was pumped into the pond. Hard to se here but, now it;s an emerald green. Ta hat means algae is forming

Finishing touches of plaster on the front wall, now you wait for it to dry. Then apply a sealer, good paint so you won't be painting it every year and you will miss the black streaks as well.

One thing about my wife work doesn't bother her at all she can lay down and sleep by it anytime

Image

This young man all of 13 on the other hand is a real worker, still in High School, every weekend he either works with his father or his uncle and he does a man day of work.

Image

I tried to get the kid to quit about 1300 hrs. it was really hot he wouldn't do it, about 1500 hrs. his uncle finally told him stop and he did. I paid him for the w entire day and he earned it. The kid goes to school through the week. I hope he finishes. I know one thing if he doesn't he knows what hard work is when he decides. I hear about child labor I don't think they mean a kid like this, who is going to school. I did the same thing when I was a kid. Makes you really want to finish school. Next time you want to think about lazy Thai's look at these photos again.

Image

Not really what I wanted but with language some how I got. They were going to put in four I stopped them at one.

Image

Wife didn't get any photo's of the finished project I'll get some tomorrow and explain why I don't want them. I thought I was getting fish net laid at the bottom that we could raise to help catch the little buggers.

I made some head way on Security today bought four motion detectors with a range of 33 meters, they will be connected to sirens not lights. To hell with them let run in the dark  I got to get some step down transformers since the sirens are 12 volt. I should be able to find them at the electronics store in Big C.

Started on the third wall, the other two are being painted now.

Image

We started seeing some die off with the cat fish, so took the water to the Udon fishery, we need to add lime.

This an intersesting study on growing Pla Nin an shrimp together in Thailand, that ashould help on the bottom line a bit.

Serious comment about the alarm system: Are you at risk of getting your new power supplies and sirens ripped off? I hope you position things so that the alarm will be set off if anybody approaches the expensive parts.

Not really maybe 1500 baht in it. I owned an alarm company in the states so I knew what to get. Guys lets face there is risk in everything you do here or anywhere else. The biggest risk you ever took was moving here. Everything is pretty small after that. I will walk test it.

Interesting article bumper.
Doesn't really answer anything with any certainty though. Except that if you are going to grow prawns then tilapia as well in some way seems like a very good idea all round.

Have you any idea what & how you are going to do.
The tilapia suspended in nets sounds like a good idea to me as it would mean that they would be at least easy to get at. I guess that the prawns can only be extracted by a full draining of the pond...unless you have another plan that is.. :D

It's a learning proces to early for any certainity yet. Two aspects are already working. The last being shrimp if I do anything I will use the cat fish pond after they are gone. The big pond is simply to much to drain. The cat fish pond will accomodate 2000 shrimp. The water is now brackish, make that work then I will expand.

The nets are for prediators.
