Man Utd set to move for Valencia
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 098622.stm

Lyon have told Manchester United that striker Karim Benzema is not for sale this summer.
Manchester United are also tracking Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes after the 27-year-old's contract talks broke down.
Ferguson has instructed United chief executive David Gill to complete a £24m deal for Valencia's David Silva.
Newcastle are paying midfielder Joey Barton £675,000 per year for his image rights. :yikes: :yikes:
Striker Michael Owen's management company has sent out a 34-page brochure, highlighting his goal-scoring skills and commercial value, to eight Premier League clubs as he looks to resurrect his career following Newcastle's relegation from the Premier League.

Firstly, congratulations to Bob for his appearance on Sky News. Its nice to know that all your hard work as a Mod on the Sports Forum is not going un-noticed ! :D
It would be great if United could get Torres but, personally,I think that there is more chance of Irish Alan and souness announcing that they have bought season tickets at Old Trafford !
Apparently Benzema is not for sale and Tevez is about to sign on for Manchester City so Uniteds options are becoming more limited. If they want a fourth striker as mainly a squad player who will play about a dozen matches a season then Michael Owen is available on a free ! He could probably just about manage 12 games a season !
Trouble is that people remember him as the striker with the electrifying turn of pace of around 10 years ago and those days are now long gone.

Sadly the news of my transfer from udonmap.com to Sky Sports News was very premature.
As in many of these high level transfers I fear that the news was deliberately leaked to the press by a jealous rival. I believe this was in order to create unrest at my current club (undonmap) & amongst my many supporters ( :yikes: ) and so scuttle the deal.
I will only say that Mr. Murdock did offer to multiply my current salary by the power of 10.
However, as 10 * 0 is still 0 & I would have had to pay the return air ticket to LHR every week it was not making financial sense to me.
I will reiterate my previous statements that I am very happy at my current club and am currently not seeking a move elsewhere, however, a party interested in making an offer could always contact me at bob_open_to_offers@hotmail.com

Lambert: No bid from Robins

Thu 11 Jun, 04:17 PM

Colchester boss Paul Lambert has not ruled out selling potential Bristol City target Mark Yeates but insists the club have not received any bids for the winger.

Yeates' impressive displays last season are believed to have caught the attention of both the Robins and Middlesbrough.

But Lambert has dismissed reports that City boss Gary Johnson has lodged a £300,000 bid for the 24-year-old Irishman.

He told BBC Essex: "There have been no bids for any players so far, it's all quiet.

"The way Mark plays means he's an eye catcher. If an offer came in which we felt was good for the club then it's something we'd have to look at."

Torres vows to stay at Liverpool

Fernando Torres has pledged his long-term future to Liverpool.

The 25-year-old Spain striker had been touted as a target for Manchester United once Cristiano Ronaldo completes his £80m move to Real Madrid.

But Torres said: "I'm very happy with my contract and wouldn't leave just to earn a little more somewhere else where I wouldn't be that happy.

"To want any more would be greedy and that is not me. As long as Liverpool want me, I will stay."

Torres, in South Africa with the Spain squad for the Confederations Cup, added: "Winning the European Championship with Spain gave me a taste of what winning at the top level was like and once you've had a taste of success it becomes an addiction."

He recently signed improved terms on his current contract which runs until 2013, with the option for a further year at the end of that deal.

Torres added: "A lot of players committed themselves to Liverpool this summer with new contracts and players don't do that unless they think they can have their ambitions met.

"There is a lot of belief at the club and a lot of trust in the manager. I sincerely believe I will win the Premier League and the Champions League here. The winning tradition is very clear at Liverpool. I want to be involved in a little piece of their history."

The Liverpool future of Torres' team-mates Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano are not as clear as they continue to be linked with moves away from Anfield.

Alonso is a long-time target for Real Madrid, and when asked in South Africa whether he would be disappointed to still be at Liverpool next season, he replied: "I cannot answer that. I have already said everything."

It is understood Alonso's relationship with Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez became strained last summer after he tried to sell him to fund his failed bid to sign then Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry.

Mascherano, meanwhile, has emerged as a potential target for Champions League winners Barcelona.

Newcastle United are committed to paying their players a £10m bonus less than six weeks after relegation from the top flight.
Full story: Daily Mail

Heard it on Sky Sports News - as you can imagine the Newcastle fans they interviewed were not very impressed by it!!
